I don't buy any of them as late 20-somethings, especially Sheridan. Charles and Erik being in their early 60s is a joke. And Quiksilver/Peter is suppose to be 38-39 at this point.

The lack of care, the lack of effort here is astounding. I mean heck, the Phoenix thing doesn't even make sense considering Jean already had it in Apocalypse. They retconned the ending of Apocalypse. Just goes to show how little they care when Kinberg can't even be bothered to follow the BASIC plotline that his preceding movie set fourth

Aren't the X-Men like, 30 or 40 years old at this point? Why is Mystique acting like they're inexperienced kids. They're all adults and have been a team for decades.

Scott, jean were 16 in apocalypse, so 25 in Dark Phoenix. not sure about Nighcrawler and storm but they are probably close to the same age. Quicksilver is probably in his 30s though.

Xavier was literally about to become Apocalypse, undergoing transference inside the pyramid. Losing his hair and bloodied, Charles still fought off En Sabah in the astral plane. Where was Mystique? Hiding behind a wall. Storm? Only does her heel turn when she sees the tides turning against her Horsemen cohorts. Let's not even talk about Psylocke.

Jean almost single handily taking down Apocalypse, and now Jean saved the space shuttle.

Looks like Quicksilver and Nightcrawler help out just as much as Jean.

So Mystique doesn't remember when the last time was that Xavier joined them in the field. Must be that 10 year gap. How convenient that's what the narrative is now.

I keep on repeating Kinberg has done it. After years of others butchering his expert scripts, he took the rains and has delivered an expertly crafted caliber product to service and entertain us with characters he has always felt passionate about and is synonymous with. Kinberg IS X-men.

The reviews and ratings are a winner and word of mouth is good. Solid and a well constructed product with skilled direction on display. The haters will see that Kinberg is the one true spirit to carry the franchise forward to Marvel.

Why else would Kinberg take the directorial reigns?

Yes she's here and yet can't walk through the frame. It's wait and see still. You don't know either.

there really are some bizarre things going on with the marketing of this movie, some things just have no explanation.

I know I'm punching down but I came here after seeing that clip to say the exact same thing.

Even if you can accept that Magneto and Xavier would look nearly identical after 30+ years (I don't), at this point in their near decade-long career as X-men the youngest member has to be in their late twenties with Quicksilver pushing 40. And yet they're inexperienced kids? Their first mission was fighting a literal Egyptian god who was destroying the planet.

The timeline jump worked for DOFP but was a giant distraction in Apocalypse and I'd bet my bottom dollar it's going to make even less sense this time around. I'm not even saying the movie can't be good, I'm saying they took a franchise where continuity was already confusing and intentionally made it even more nonsensical for seemingly no reason.

Can't this not getting older thing be explained with just saying that mutants age slower than humans? Also superheroes look always the same since they first appear in the comics. Why is it a problem now? I get that some of you want the consistency from the series but I think this is something different with getting our characters in different times. I think this allows every movie to be contained without getting baggage from other movies. I also think that Logan and Deadpool movies benefited a lot from this.

Also that soundtrack sounds amazing! Friday can't come soon enough.

About Charles/Erik you're right, but i prefer that than to have heavy make-up. (and in comics the situation is the same).

On 'kids'
if you have a child, you will know that you said to her/him "you're not a kids anymore!" when her/him is 4yo, when 8yo, when 18yo, when 30.
But at the same time if there will be a war, for a mother (and Raver is like it) a child will be always an inexperienced kids even if it's not her/his first war.
And there is an huge difference in what a mother/leader (Raven) have to said to her child/soldier and what she want to said to who (Charles) send them to war.
a motivational speech is not what a person really thinks.

I wouldn’t say they are purposely making it more nonsensical. More a case of - well it’s stuffed anyway so no point focusing on it and better to just make what we want without worrying about it.
