Two technical things from watching the clip a thousand times, so Mystique is naked right there, why would she return to the clothes she was wearing as Jennifer Lawrence-Darkholme, but the thing that I keep wondering more about is her "Visitor" card, did she threw the original away and made one with her body? or did her body absorved the card when she transformed into the CIA guy. I really don't mind, it's just a fun discussion topic.

Why would she want to stand naked in a room full of strangers looking at her?

Maybe, but i remember seeing about 80% of posters on here having nerdgasms when we saw the fastball special, when we saw the sentinals head, saw a face off with ice man and pyro! i especially remember the reactions to "im the juggernaut B*T*H" line being used from the cartoon parody! everyone had high hopes, i think for me i'd like to be pleasantly suprised by if it's good, and not be dissapointed if it blows, or maybe the fan boy in me has died a bit! hahaha

Those X3 clips used involved had nothing pertinent to the plot itself. Out of context, they were pleasing to the eye.

For this one, not only there is a dramatic shift in tone, but it actually glimpses at a plot.

That's the difference, but it's a large difference.

The only minor quip was the effects for Mystique's transformation. I don't mind how quick it was - it had to stun everyone in the room! - but it seemed it could use a little more polish. Again I know the clip has been edited.

The first time I saw it, I had the same gaping reaction. That means Vaughn is doing his job!

Why would Mystique be naked from the go, when it is her origin? It represents how she feels about herself.

And she is in uniform in the the trailers and promos.

I never really liked the transformation effect for Mystique. But for continuity sakes, I'm glad it's the same.

Mystique's transformation is awesome. You can see the scales overlapping and shifting, they could have made it look real cheap by having her "melt" as she shifted, like how the vampires' faces on Buffy changed from human to vampire without any dimension to it.

Don't dis Buffy! It was on a TV budget. ;p Besides, I think it was deliberate - so you never quite see the actual process, and that it would be quite a startle when the vampires put on their game face.

Anyway as for Mystique, I do quite like her scales, but maybe a qripe I have is that the scales shifting seemed to be in the wrong place, just where the chin is. Maybe I'm wrong though. Don't worry, I'm not that fussed about it. Substance is much, much more important.

Don't get me wrong I love Buffy and Angel, I have all the seasons and I read the comics haha .. the transformation did improve in later seasons though.

This is gonna be good. The trailer, and now this clip had made me very excited for this film. Might be the best X-Men film yet.

If you remember her character trailer, she was wearing clothes, she was wearing the school's sweats, when she lost her concentration only her body reverted to blue, but the clothes were still there.

I'm guessing that means Xavier encounters Emma and Azazel prior to this scene.

I dunno...the CIA dude is talking to Moira there--maybe she or someone at the CIA saw Emma and Azazel, and noone believed the report...

I'm not saying she should be naked, I'm saying she is, she transformed her body (clothes and "VISITOR" included) into the CIA guy, and then returned to the clothes she was wearing but in her blue form. Two reasons why she's blue, but clothed after transforming 1)I think she isn't confident enough to stand in front of a bunch of people naked yet--she's not yet the mystique from the original movies. and 2) it makes a hell of a statement to fake details like a badge. I think she generally 'fakes' her clothes whenever she's in potentially hostile territory--she probably ditched the visitor badge somewhere and is faking it too. I don't see it as her losing concentration as much as going "ta da!"

In the school it's probably easier to NOT fake clothes, especially since she's on friendly turf. So in the clip with magneto she's wearing real clothes and is just faking skin tone, etc.

I think the only reason it will not be on par with X2 IMO is because in X2, I was seeing all the characters I worshiped as a child.

Seeing Storm, Cyclops, Rogue and Jean (PHOENIX) all being awesome in the same movie, in such a big scope, with epic power displays...that was the highlight of my adolescence (yep my teenage years sucked) and still to this day my best movie experience of all time. I felt 100% fulfilled that afternoon. My life was complete that day.


I think the quality of this film might match X2 though. I hope so.

That's a nice feeling ain't it.t: As someone who's experienced it myself I can tell where you're coming from. Not with X2 for me as I'm no X-men fan but I still get you're point.

I judging on appearances means anything(and we all know how risky that can be) then I'd say Vaughn is enjoying a freedom and backing on this film that Singer never got even with X2.

I completely understand what you're saying, the weird thing for me is that in the CIA she's faking her clothes (even the visitor badge, which I completely agree she just tossed it aside when no one was watching), maybe because she knew that she would have to do the talent portion of the presentation. But at school where she should probably be training her powers she uses the official sweats, so in this line of discussion it's strange that even though she describes herself as shy she's naked on the streets and wearing clothes at home.
