THE MUMMY is writer/producer Alex Kurtzman's first big budget directing gig.

DARK PHOENIX is writer/producer Simon Kinberg's first directing gig ever.

exactly right.let's not pretend eather were great writers eather.kurtsman was looking to work with abrams.while as die hard trekker i had issues with
new films abrams is good director to make it work.kinberg had worked with x-men films since first class with eather vaughn or singer.i know some will argue point about singer but some will admit he is good director while others won't.

i remain worried dark phoenix is going to disaster as mummy is.now foregin box office may bail mummy out.we would have to wait and see how dark phoenix would do.maybe going into puter space will create attention by ga.

Our pessimism is what causes things to go wrong. I am an optimist.
Been an optimist on this board since I joined. Heck, I still defend Apocalypse. That time has passed.

Well yea that is a similarity but not all first time writers/producers on a big budget film flop at it, some actually soar. Idk about Kinberg honestly ill have to wait and see, unless they found someone else and just keeping it very much under wraps which is what I hope lol.
'Cept he is directing his own script. How can he soar when he has yet to even leap once in his career?
