This is just shocking. I mean, I will see it tomorrow and form my own opinion, but how can a movie entirely focused on this story somehow tell it worse than a movie that made it basically an after thought that they had force into the movie despite wanting to make it to be about the mutant cure instead? It's just so bizarre.
It’s almost like it wasn’t a good idea to get the dude who wrote the previous movie to expand on his grand plans.

Surely, Dark Phoenix in a red coat, Dark Phoenix with zombie-look, Magneto’s henchmen in S&M threads/tattoos/Camo/hair mutant powers, Xavier’s mistakes coming back to haunt him, killing off the X-men’s leader, those are all Ratner’s fault right? Those can’t be Kinberg’s ideas.

I am okay to a point with things "rhyming" and all that if they're done well. The issue here is that it's not done well it seems.

I agree to a point. DOFP’s “throw a pebble to a river” theory of things inevitably repeating themselves gives them leeway to offer up déjà vus. But the things I’ve mentioned weren’t even elements fans liked in X3.

What’s the point of taking a second stab at Dark Phoenix if you’re going to give her an even worse version of her costume from the previous iteration. What’s the point of getting a redo of DPS if we only see the Raptor once (?). Never mind that she should be raptoring every chance she needs it (where is this power when she’s being possessed by the “force” in the space mission) considering she’s already had it for 10 friggin years.

Eh, honestly when it comes to her costume, that is something I file under whatever as long as the story is good. I can live with a crappy looking Green Goblin in SM1 because the surrounding movie is strong, and so on. So her wearing something similar to the X3 outfit doesn't really bother me. What bothers me more is bad pacing and poor story. If you're going to take a second stab at this, make sure you have a strong enough story to justify existing.

Went into the movie not knowing the rotten tomatoe score. Came out thinking it should be around 50%, similar to Apocalypse. Then find out its in its 20's and not surprised...

The two most-likely getting the lion's share of the budget Kinberg and JLaw, and their contributions are what is making the movie bad? Say it ain't so!
Sounds like money well spent!

They're also the two that talked each other into participating. JLaw told Kinberg she would return only if he directed. Then again she also said she did it for the fans. He probably did too at some point. Who knows anymore!

I must admit this movie did much worse than I anticipated. My Rotten tomato prediction was somewhere within the 45-55% range. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would end up as one of worst reviewed comic book films in recent memory.

The score is lower than even all the DCEU films(even Suicide Squad was reviewed better!).

They really should have ended it @ Logan
I'm going to go on pretending they did. It makes me think of the franchise as pretty good, bordering great. So far, they are 0/2 since Logan...1/3 since Logan, if you count Deadpool 2.

This movie would have been so much better if they had just killed mystique in apocalypse and focused more on cyclops (along with storm, quicksilver) in this movie.

Kinberg gave cyclops the short end of the stick in X3 and again here he ends up like a chump.

Is kinberg going to be around still as a producer? Which I'm cool with as long as Feige still runs the ship.

Sad that the whole franchise seems to be ending on a whimper... but its definitely ready for a rest and a reboot.

Hoping it can at least reach 27%. ISnt that where BvS or Suicide Squad is? I don’t remember. Those have their genuine fans, and Phoenix seems to as well.
