I really love this scene...

MR delivery of that last line...PERFECT.

My last post was a joke, in case you didn't pick up on it.

This show is about Clark Kent BECOMING Superman, once he is, series is over. He will become :super: near the end of the series on S8, in the meantime his journey continues.

NO S##T

but we are now on what 716: That means that we should literally be a stones throw away from superman. They've only got about 20 episodes left before the end: So it's about DAMN TIME they got on with it.

This little argument (it's about becoming superman) held up much better when it was earlier seasons... but at this point, it's redundant... and almost false: The show is now about Clark's last steps towards becoming superman. From our point of view, it's less than 20 hours away.

As for Chloe, Lex will probably off her, once she gets a new job at another newspaper, and busts him...

He doesn't need to put the suit on anytime soon, I know people are jonesing for a Superman live-action series, but I'm loving SV as it is, I love seeing him move closer to being Superman. I mean he is pretty much who he's going to be as Superman, but he's not the person who's ready to fly around Metropolis in a cape yet, I don't think he should be or needs to be at this point.

no where did I mention costume or flying... I was more refering to the way Clark has been sulking on the far since Mama Kent left... he was sulking on the farm before mama Kent left.

I'm not a power/costume junky like others on this board. I want to see Clark acting like Superman, not some jaded brother, in some messed up fraternal relationship. He's getting there... but it's time to pick up the pace, because if they continue at this pace, 20 episodes from now, we'll be in the same place we are now.... which is pretty much the same place we were when the series began: Clark has powers, and he hides on the farm.

Hmm...not sure what you're seeing then, Clark hasn't been sulking, he's been proactive as far as I can see. I'm not sure why you dont see a progression, or him acting like Superman. As far as I was concerned, I've been watching Superman for a while now.

You make it seem like when the series is over they will show Clark in the final scene once again sulking and bouncing his ball against the wall in the barn. Do you really think that?

only on finales and premiers, otherwise, I feel that midseason-Clark is always still the same exact character as he was first season(just with a little more baggage). Superman Acts, Clark does not act. Clark is passive, almost a 'female' character as far as nonsensical film theory is concerned. You have not been watching Superman (or you've forgotten who he is). Just as Chloe reminded Clark last episode, Superman is the power of goodness endowed in Clark by those people who cared for him. However, Clark has absorbed all this goodness, and missed one thing, the ability to act. Jor'el, JonKent, and Lionel, all three had the ability to act, and challange their foes. Jor'el sent Clark away, JKent challanged anybody and everybody who was morally questionable, and Lionel... Lionel did anything he wanted whenever he wanted, and showed that Kryptonians can help even the most wretched of souls. But Clark exudes none of these bolder qualities. When this happens, then we might be watching Superman: A person endowed with absolute goodness, as well as a person with constitution to go out into the world, and stand up for what he believes is right. Clark does not stand, unless he is pushed by someone (and that list of people is growing very short now...)

however, as I said earlier, I'm suprised, and happy that I've been able to speak positively about Smallville for the last run of episodes. All this veritas stuff is great. If only they had been laying the seeds of Veritas in our minds since the first season, it wouldn't feel like a cheap way to tie up loose ends, but rather, a central plot that coherently brings the whole series together from beginning to end.

I wouldn't put it past WB. And really, it is still like that, the only thing I think that has changed is the person who is on the farm while Clark sulks. Like I said, the last arc has been great, and I just think it's too bad that this Veritas plotline hasn't been one of the orginal plotlines, right from the series beginning(ie. making the difference b/w a bandaid, and plot that has been crafted for 7 years)

wait, hows he not been proactive he's looking for brianiac isn't he? and he went after Bizarro.

Because friends & family that he loves were affected by Brainiac. What would be cool for Season 8 is Clark just watching the news or something he goes after the next bad guy because hie is hurting random people or something & not just because of those closest to him. Clark is still learning though

I don't like spoilers, so I'm pretty much lost on the above subject.
I'll get back to you after the episode.

Nevermind.

I guess cmil got that....

This was my favourite episode this season. SV delivered big time with this one. Really sad to see John go and he was responsible for some of my favourite scenes (from a performance stand point) in the show.
Without Glover, Schneider, Annette and if Michael and Allison don't come back next year it will be interesting how the show will flow in terms of characters.
I think Michael gave one of his best performances ever on this episode and he made us not only hate Lex but also feel bad and shake our heads in desbelief of how much tragic is his story. He finally sucumb to the dark side. Tom was great also.
And to me the ending of this episode will go down as one of the best in the show's history and Tom and Michael gave one of hell of a performance just with their eyes. That is acting at it's best folks. When someone can say so much without saying anything.
The metaphor of both being on opposite corners, of Lex grinning sarcastically, almost mocking Clark, I have a feeling this will turn out just like in Birthright. Lex will pretend to forget all about Clark Kent and Smallville down the line.
I can even see this play out if they make Lex know Clark is Superman. I think it will be a matter of pride for Lex, he won't reveal his identity because it will make it even more interesting to humiliate him and defeat him by his own merit.
And finally the best part for me was Clark looking seriously at Lex and just saying with his look "No matter what you do, no matter what you try, I will be there to stop you."
That is Superman right there. And that is Lex Luthor. And if you want more proof of why these 2 actors should play these roles in an epic movie, don't look no further than this scene. It was a classic moment.

^^^ yes i liked the staredown between 2 in that last scene of episode also that music in the becakground also suited the scene

also lex's smiled when he saw clark because he knew despite clark having a proof he coldn't do anything

INDEED :applaud!

I think the song played during Subterranean when Lex was walking down the hall of 33.1

I loved that scene. All the meteor freaks were trying to grab Lex while he walks down the hall confidently. lol
