8.16 - Turbulence - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

It won't be Clark flying, it will be more like Clark jumping really high, or Clark falling to the ground with style.

But what I do expect it to be a learning process. Like riding a bike for the first time without your training wheels. That is what I expect or this episode.

It's simple "Up Up and Away" !!!!

I'm sure he won't fly. We'll probably see that in the finale is my guess.

It doesn't bother me that much that he doesn't fly, since I know eventually he will. :p

to quote smallville's clark;

"not in this lifetime!"

It's out of his hands now . His future is set in motion, He can't change it... Clark is destined to take flight .

Clark already knows he can fly though, he's known for years and still doesn't. Even if he does "fall with style" in the episode, next week he'll be denying the ability again.

Knowing you *can* do something is a lot different than knowing *how* to do it. Most adults are physically capable of lifting at least 200 pounds. But not many know how to do it without hurting themselves - or somebody else. ;)

^ Okay, that crosses the line. Enough, Geldart!

*Hands patsy a crowbar and whistles innocently*

Geldart: You really should be more classy than that. I mean c'mon, what's your deal. How hard is it for you to actually attempt a real conversation?

Should be an interesting episode tonight. Cant wait to see what happens.

yay Tess is back. Was missing her. Too bad Lois is MIA

"It wasn't flying, it was more like jumping."

OH GOD, we just got Smallville-teased.

from like 30,000 feet? with tess in his arms? pretty sure the impact would make her a liquid. just sayin.

It was an issue of Action Comics or one of the Superman books that explained that. He has some kind of aura about him that can be extended to whoever he's holding to protect them from whatever damage is headed his way.

in was a pretty good episodes in terms of character development, particularly with jimmy, diggin' the whole addiction thing and you can actually see how he's justified in his anger towards chloe, for once his character does not seem forced. the flying tease pissed me off though, definitely had to :whatever: after that "more like a jump" line.

+1 i knew he wouldn't fly but i was holding hope anyways. i think flight will be held off until the absolute "final" episode of smallville.

i think its for certain that cloe will die by seasons end or next. i mean that would explain why she is not in the future superman universe nor with jimmy. tonight's episode makes me believe this even more with the tension between jimmy and cloe. they are building up to something here. maybe davis will end up killing her?

i do like the fact tonight we got to see more of the classic superman mythos such as him changing his clothes and stuff.

This was probably the first time I fully agreed with Jimmy. Usually I just take this as a lame battle of insecurities. This time he was justified. She tasered him. What the hell was she thinking?

i bet they split up and she ends up dying by davis hands. i also smell a brief love affair between cloe & davis bloom.

Maybe he kills her when they copulate. Remember the Mallrats debate?

T.S. Quint: But they're engaged.
Brodie: Doesn't matter, can't happen.
T.S. Quint: Why not? It's bound to come up.
Brodie: It's impossible, Lois could never have Superman's baby. Do you think her fallopian tubes could handle the sperm? I guarantee you he blows a load like a shotgun right through her back. What about her womb? Do you think it's strong enough to carry his child?
T.S. Quint: Sure, why not?
Brodie: He's an alien, for Christ sake. His Kyrptonian biological makeup is enhanced by earth's yellow sun. If Lois gets a tan the kid could kick right through her stomach. Only someone like Wonder Woman has a strong enough uterus to carry his kid. The only way he could bang regular chicks is with a kryptonite condom. That would kill him.

 Mallrats rock!! Brodie is a legend ;)

Usually I just role my eyes when Jimmy has his little fits. But today I couldn't agree with him more.

Look forward to next weeks show.

This was a mediocre episode for me. I was a little upset we had a no show from Lois again. I thought we would have got more of a scene with Clark and Tess when he jumped out of plane. I think everyone pretty much knew he wasn't going to fly. I also think they're handling Doomsday perfect at the moment.

I agree. The build up of Doomsday reminds me of the build up of the alien creature in Aliens. Remember how you never really saw the creature til like the last few minutes of the movie?

Ok Episode tonight but did it seem like every commercial break was preceded by a clip of Chloe thinking Jimmy was nuts? I need to rewatch it because I kept flipping in and out the NCAA Tourney games and Supernatural was about 100 different kinds of awesome tonight too.

Yes. Just showing a little bit of Doomsday gets people pumped. Then they'll finally unleash him in the last episode.
