SPIELBERG said the kind of camera move in action that the Avengers had in its finale flying through New York City was something that could not be done in live action thus he did it in Tintin. That tells me the team did invent something for that and it was seamless.
It was a blend of live action and CGI. people have been doing it for decades now. The shot is magnificent, but it's not groundbreaking.

They say they aren't uniting the Bonds, I think they will.

Avengers and SkyFall never had a shot against Pi so no they weren't robbed.

I thnk they may surprise us and bust out Craig, Connery, Moore, and Brosnan.

Well ive been pronouncing the name of that book and movie wrong lol.

Got that one, too. 5/6!

The costumes in that movie were stunningly good. She's been a tremendous part of Joe Wright's crew, so I'm glad she won, even if the movie wasn't great.

I'm convinced the costume awards always goes to the film that is set in the earliest time period.

@richarddreyfuss: I always dreamed that the score of one of my films would be used to play people off at the Oscars. We did it, Steven!

you people are crazy if you think Skyfall and Avengers should have won those. Straight lunacy

The look of Life of Pi, while stunning, felt too synthetic for my tastes. I thought Skyfall had the better cinematography.

Not one LONG SHOT without any cuts. THAT is what Spielberg was talking about. THAT was something he said could not be done, thus he did it with Tintin. As said, that 'long shot' was something that was believed to not be possible. Not that CGI was in it - but that they were able to do that scene somehow without any cuts. That's why that scene in Tintin got so much attention when it came out.

On the other hand, animals have been on screen forever - nothing but naturally evolved with what was already present.

That's hilarious.

Channing Tatum looks like he's getting hit hard by the stage fright.

Les Miserables was set earier than Anna Karenina.

I called Makeup. 6/7!

It's a combination of how well CGI is done and how it's done for the story of the movie. Life and Pi deserved the win,
