86th Annual Academy Awards (2014) - Part 2

Leonardo DiCaprio is whispering to Matthew McConaughey whatever it is that Daniel Day-Lewis whispers to Paul Dano in the baptism scene in There Will Be Blood.

I guess I'll make a thread for the 87th awards. Kvz made hers too at this time last year.

If Leo wants to win an Oscar so badly, he should think about writing something too.

He's writing a role right now that sees him playing a paraplegic, half Jewish, half black Holocaust survivor who has aids and Cancer and is also gay....He's got it locked for 2015!!

This is an awesome shot. I wish there was some way to know what he was actually saying to him here lol

"Sean Penn and Jack Nicholson are finally out of the way and you choose THIS YEAR to suddenly stop doing bare chested rom coms with Kate Hudson? McCona****er!!!"

I don't think I've ever been clear, Matthew. If you were drowning, I'd throw you a barbell.

… You watch my show!

I really want to watch that hero montage again, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Leo was fantastic, he really should have won for Aviator. Jamie Foxx was good as Ray, but Leo was better.

But MM was just unreal. What a renaissance

Holy crap, I just now realized it's taken 14 years for Julia Roberts to be nominated again after she won, while it's only taken Sandra Bullock 4 years and Christian Bale 3 years.

Hey. Get it right.

It's a Mcconnaissance

;)

I'm just going to call him MM from hear on out because his last name is hard to spell.

I'm starting to wonder what the Academy has against Leo. I guess he will have to die in order to win an Oscar

I don't think there's anything against Leo. If anything, I think the constant nominations shows they are fond of him, but the oscars has always been about part talent, part time. My guess would be that there's an attitude that Leo is destined to win an Oscar eventually and that there's no real need to rush him into one. His many nominations is probably in the vein of a reassurance that, "Yes, don't worry, it'll come eventually."

Maybe. Just speculating, but I feel if there was some legitimate ill-will towards him, we wouldn't even see him on the ballet.

I see everyone has forgiven Blanchett for Crystal Skull. She deserved an Oscar for that movie. :o

so for those who watched the whole show and watched all the Best Song performances......

were any of the other song performances shortened/sped up like Let It Go was?

were they sung/performed at their original length and tempo?

just curious.

:woot:

I just realized that Dennis Farina wasn't included in the Memoriam. Wth...

They could have included him and some other people they left out if they didn't decide to have a god damn song right after.

Leonardo will need to do a independent type film rather then these high profile films to get the oscar.

He needs cut his **** with Scorsese everytime and start working with Paul Thomas Anderson, Clint Eastwood, or find unique projects like MM did with Dallas Buyers Club.

Wolf of Wall Street is a great film, but its very Scorcese and we have seen that over the top stuff with Goodfellas and Casino.

Broaden the projects Leo.

He did do a film with Eastwood. It sucked.

And Wolf of Wall Street was independently financed. It was damn near NC-17 and hardly the kind of film a studio was ever going to sign off on, which they didn't.
