Wow. Apart from Jurassic World being nominated for Best Movie over Mad Max, that's actually pretty good for the MTV Movie Awards. Though that isn't really saying much, especially over the last 10 years. I think the last time I really watched it was in 2009 when Twilight swept everything. Once that happened, they lost what little credibility they had left.

Although strike stupid, these aren't that far off:

2015 The Revenant
2013 The Great Gatsby
2012 Django Unchained
2010 Inception

Yeah this whole "Leo can now do fun movies" is just as stupid as the whole "Leo is obsessed with winning an Oscar". He likes working with auteur directors. He's said film is a director's medium and he wants to work with the best of them. He's never been obsessed with winning an Oscar and his filmography is not going to change now that he's won one. He's going to keep doing what he's doing, which is great.

Stuff like MTV and Nickelodeon, insipid as their award shows can get, do actually seem to cater to the stuff nerds would like more as far as categories.

But catering to nerds doesn't automatically make the Award Nomination list better than the Oscars.

What Is Oscar Season Without Parties? We May Soon Find Out

http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2016/07/oscar-season-parties-academy-rules

In addition to inviting a vast and unusually diverse list of new members to join their ranks, the Academy has also unveiled new rules about how its members can be wooed by the publicists and studios in search of Oscar glory. The new rule forbids Academy members from being invited to or attending “any non-screening event, party or dinner that is reasonably perceived to unduly influence members or undermine the integrity of the vote.”

Yea you know that won't be adhered to. There's multiple parties during Oscar season. Its' not as if Academy voters will be hiding in the bushes ready to jump out.

Yeah, because rules make millionaires stop doing things. :whatever:
