88th Annual Academy Awards - Part 2

Was this a euphemism for something? Who was the other?

Keaton on stage at the end, and Bale eating some in the crowd with Matt Damon eariler.

I very much dislike Scott Pilgrim. *dodges my husband's tomatoes*

I agree. I liked the Brandon Routh bit, though.

The divorce papers are in the mail.

You always threaten divorce when we disagree.:oldrazz:

I'm getting flashbacks to my childhood now. :( :p

Frankly, they're all wrong, lol.

And I used to believe it too, hardcore.
You don't believe the scientists. and yet would you believe your doctor for a diagnoses?

I thought Chris Rock really laid it on thick with the Black commentary. And his Jada/Will Smith burns were on point and hilarious.
Did anyone tell Kevin Hart that the first row was for the nominees and their dates if he wasn't joking.

Was it really necessary for Joe Biden to show up?

And Adam McKay won an Oscar....the very same man who gave us memorable comedic catch phrases like "60% of the Time it works every time" "Loud Noises" and of course, "Boats and Hoes."

The Rock is at the Oscars to present....now can he tell us what the hell is he going to do at WrestleMania 32?

Chris Rock should have gone FURTHER and trolled hard. But he mainly stuck to what was conventional wisdom along with an overly compensating Academy. They gave him a freebie. Then this time next year we'll be saying the same things and ask what happened because these Oscars just did so much to change things.

Now the rich people will get **** faced tonight and just remember Ennio Morricone winning. And the clapping bear.

The Oscars so white controversy was overblown because the Oscars being so white isn't the main problem. The main issue is how anybody who is not a white male is treated at large. Whocares about the Oscars being so white, give good actors of color some more good roles. And no I don't just mean black people. I'm black but I don't just think about black people when I think of people of color.

See this is why I can't stay mad at you. You say brilliant things like this, and I just fall again. :yay:

Yeah. At the end of the day, rich people sat around and laughed at themselves and the problems, but they're gonna do jack **** about it. Oh, and they still won Oscars. :funny: Rock also forgot one other thing: It's not just black people. It became a little embarrassing. He just kind of played into the system at the end of the day. And yet, playing "Fight the Power" makes us think they're actually being serious. Give me a ****ing break.

A lot of it was just patronizing. They all don't know the bigger picture.

The more I think about it, the more Marlon Brando sending that Indian woman to accept his Oscar wasn't so weird.

I can't believe that Mad Max Fury Road one of the best displays of practical and digital visual effects in years lost.

I'd put that up there with Skyfall losing in the cinematography category to ****ing Life of Pi.

I wanna see the Poor Roger Deakins memes. Of course it doesn't have the same ring to it.

And seeing Smith win was just comedic. A sub par Bond song winning over THAT Lady Gaga ****. :funny:

The real problem here is that there needs to be a stuntwork Oscar.

The effects in Ex Machina are pretty much seamless and are integral to the character work. I'm actually very surprised by how they made such a smart choice there. I'd love to see another mark in Fury' Road's tally but I can't really fault this. Its not like smart mid budget science fiction get a lot of Oscar love too often.

Congrats to Leo winning! Not the Oscar he needed, but the Oscar he deserved...

I usually enjoy the Oscars but this year was the worst I can remember.

Happy Mad Max won multiple Oscars and the actress from Room got the statue, both well deserved.

The show was mostly cringeworthy, especially playing 'Fight The Power' at the end credits.

WTF, that came off like a real life South Park bit much like when Kim Davis walked out of jail to 'Eye of the Tiger'.

It was a real chore to get through but I still needed to see the major awards at the end

I think because of Leo's win this will definitely go down as one of those years where the most talked about win wasn't Best Picture. It's rare, but it happens. For example, like how Halle Berry winning Best Actress overshadowed A Beautiful Mind winning Best Picture.

Glad Leo won his Oscar finally! But very disappointed Sly lost. I wanted to see him honored for his portrayel of Rocky Balboa similar to how Paul Newman lost The Hustler, but would later win the award for the same role in Color of Money. Rocky Balboa is easily one of my favorite film characters, so I would like to have seen him honored for a role that has meant a fair amount to me growing up. But, oh well.

Sly will win... Creed 2..... when Rocky dies.. it's all written in the stars

Nah. This one was his shot. It's a rare a sequel is even recognized outside technical awards at the Oscars period, especially in the major categories. I am at least glad he nabbed a Golden Globe out of his role in the film, but would like to have seen him win. Especially since he lost both his nominations back when Rocky won Best Picture all those years ago.

Let's be real here, Ex Machina's greatest visual effect was Oscar Isaac dancing.

But that would be the greatest visual effect in any film. If they'd thrown that into Transformers, it would've won.

The human race's greatest visual effect is Oscar Isaac period. :o

Spotlight.... I mean... The sole film I questioned being up there pulls off the win. *Sigh*

Also Vikander winning was on the BS side of things, the performance was both "Eh" and not Supporting in the slightest, not to mention The Danish Girl itself was kinda crap.

Those two aside, fine with all the winners. DiCaprio has never once phoned it in onscreen and gave it his all every time out, regardless of the film's quality. The Revenant is up there among his best work, and that's saying something.
