Agent Carter Agent Carter - S01E08 - "Valediction"

So who's "brilliant" idea was it to put Fenhoff AND Zola in the same damn cell? Because that person needs to be fired immediately.

I'm thinking Arnim made it happen with the help of HYDRA sympathizers.

Well, that was certainly an exciting finish to the season!

That was a very touching moment, where Peggy has to relive her last moments with Steve over again with Howard. I thought there could've been a clearer trigger to break the mind control, but, still great scene.

I'm not sure about Peggy dropping Steve's blood in the river (We're gonna see some pretty strong marine life in the future! J/K) Another touching scene.

Great scene with Sousa and the ear plugs. I didn't see that coming.

I'm glad to see Faustus also survive.I thought he was a great villain. It would be cool if he and Zola are together for some plot next season.

Really loved the Howard/ Jarvis scenes "I thought that's what you would've wanted." :woot:

Almost/kinda surprised that Thompson didn't throw Peggy and Sousa a bone in front of the senator, but I guess it's in keeping with his character.

Anyway,I hope they do get another season. They've certainly earned it!

so, am I getting this straight? Peggy left the SSR?

Great episode! Didn't see the Zola reveal coming AT ALL!!! Nice!
But you know that those two sharing a cell can't be coincidence. That means that somewhere, at that facility, or higher up the political chain, someone arranged that pairing. I wonder how long we'll have to wait to see what Marvels plans are for series.

BTW, at the press conference scene with the sniper, did anyone get a strong "Death of Captain America" vibe?

I had some commotion going on near the end,but can anyone clue me in to why Angie was moving in with Howard? (Tony's mom confirmed!:wow:)

Maybe as Peggy's secretary? I missed part of that too.

She wasn't. Peggy and Angie were moving into one of Stark's penthouses as repayment for ruining their previous living arrangement.

What a brilliant idea! I hope the writers had that in mind when they wrote the scene. That gives us some interesting possible storylines in the future.

Re: the finale, there were almost too many good things to mention:

- Peggy recreating her final conversation with Cap was heartbreaking.

- I won't lie: I teared up during the final scene on the bridge. "The Way You Look Tonight" was perfect accompaniment. I can buy that she's ready to move on from Steve now.

- Sousa plugging up his ears. Nice to see someone from SSR using some common sense for once.

- Jarvis and Peggy working together once again (for the last time? :csad:)

- The explanation we got for the mute assassins. I always thought the removed voiceboxes were illogical but there was a reasonable explanation for them.

- Howard was hilarious. He got some nice character development too, culminating in his decision to destroy his bad babies.

- Dottie escaping! She was actually quite funny herself at times. This show had such a great blend of seriousness and humor.

- Thompson taking the credit for the mission's success. Never, ever change, Jack.

- Arnim Zola!

The bad:

- Peggy not shooting Dottie right away. Why did she have to get a case of the stupids?

Ah! Thanks!

So Howard was--what do the young folks say these days?-- "Doing them a solid.":grrr:

I was questioning why she had no back up? Sousa & Thompson the only two agents on duty that day,or did I miss something?

First Sousa and now Peggy with an inability to just shoot! Darn their innate decency.

Say what you will for that weasel Jack, but he would have shot Faustus and Dottie on sight. All those people in the theater might have lived as well as those poor cops and Zola might not have been able to brainwash Bucky and make him into a murder machine for decades.

Quite the shocker to see Zola and it makes one wonder who else SSR has locked up down there that they have to him and Faustus share a cell. Is it akin to the storage vault at the end of Indiana Jones? Is there a mastermind criminal stored away in every nook and cranny so they have to squeeze two to a cell?

Also, no Steve flashback so why did Evans shave his beard for that one week...

I'm not ready to say goodbye to Agent Carter. I need more Peggy, Jarvis and Howard.

I was wondering that, too. Did Sousa and Thompson both really have to see Jarvis off, especially with two crooks in the building? I like to imagine that Peggy decided to go ahead without telling anyone. She knew the guys would only slow her down. :hehe:

So, with Zola in the slammer, planning the early portions of the Hydra Insight plan (obviously, without the helicarrier drones carpetbombing millions)?

It's bad enough that a mind controlled (via Faustus's methods) WS probably murders Howard but now I (not that I didn't before) really hope Civil War doesn't follow the comics and have Sharon hypnotized via Faustus's methods to murder Steve because that would put another really dark and horrible spin on Peggy's (and Sousa's) inability to just shoot him. Yikes.

Oh I keep seeing tweets like this

Shereeda ‏@Shereeda22 2m2 minutes ago Hit or miss ..there was a black policeman in tonight's finale of #AgentCarter #Inaccuracy

Not inaccurate. This takes place in NYC in 1946 - not Selma, Alabama. The first black policeman in NYC was in 1911.

I just loved the tone and finish to this mini-series. Yes, the finale was tame in terms of action but we all knew that it would be. Since Howard survives until his murder in the 70's and Peggy is alive in Winter Soldier, this show was all about execution and heart. This finale delivered in that regard. It's the perfect emotional follow to the First Avenger film. Again placing Peggy behind a microphone and then delivering what amounts to Steve's funeral... PERFECT and quite touching.

The first six episodes were about thrills and intrigue. The last two were about heart and depth. A nice mix.
