Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - S2E1 "Shadows"

I guess I'm in the minority. It wasn't bad, wasn't great. It felt very much like an episode where if you never saw last season, it might be hard to follow. I imagine the ratings won't be too great and will be surprised if they pick up from last season.

Well I thought this was a great episode! Crusher Creel looked great. Everything with Fitz and Simmons was really surprising. I'm really excited for what this season has in store!

This premier was hands down better than the series premier last year.

Wow. What a fool I was!

All that fan-******* about what critical role Lucy Lawless would play on SHIELD when she was first cast and then ruminating about Izzy's character, her possible ties to Victoria Hand, her long-term role on SHIELD and whether it ultimately involved revenge on Ward, etc. And it was all for nothing!

I find it difficult to believe that TPTB wasted Lucy Lawless on a one-off appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And that IF it was only ever going to be a one-off appearance, it wasn't someone a little cooler like Madame Hydra or The Contessa (although arguably, the cooler and more well-known the character, then the greater the need to have then recur on the series). Oh well. Hopefully this means that the Flawless Lawless will be free to appear frequently in Parks and Recreation's final season or that she's free for another role which will have her regularly appearing on the small screen for my viewing pleasure!

What's the name of the HYDRA dude with the glasses?

Is he from the comics?

Hopefully Dum Dum and Morita return for Agent Carter

Pretty much every non-sitcom is like that.

Agreed. I'm just saying that ratings weren't exactly great last season. I think if we want to see a season 3, they need to improve.

That was... Interesting. There were good and bad ponts for me...

I liked the sequence at the start with Carter & Co. The fact that an 084 is called that because that just happened to be the random number given is strangely amusing to me. The hint to TAHITI was interesting, just when did that alien arrive on Earth... And why?

Fitz... Oh man, that was a kick in the balls. He's so far gone he can't realise that Simmons is just a head-Simmons. Really felt the frustration when he couldn't get the right words out.

Ward. What the **** happened to him? There's no way he went that crazy just by being locked up in that cell... Not when he lived on the mountain for however long Garrett had him up there for... I suspect we'll find out that there's been some sort of mind tampering or something done to him.

Hartley.... Sorry, but I cannot believe they'd make a big thing of Lawless appearing, then kill her off like that. Sense it makes not!

You both can't be right. Either way here's hoping this pace stays. It's a welcome change as compared to last season. I was pissed at myself after every episode it seemed because it had so much potential but yet it was so wasted and stupid. Skye was all over this episode but yet I didn't get sick of her like I normally do.

I'm right. The first three episodes are all written by writers from season one:

It makes perfect sense if you assume that they wanted to trick the audience and make the character's death seem super shocking.

Well not everyone can get pleased but most shows expect you to know what happened in the first season when rolling into season 2 but I feel the recap they did was more than enough to get anyone who was jumping back in on board. Honestly I don't think it would have lost most people and I assume some folks who's curiosity piqued at the end of last season tuned in to see if it was worth a shot or give it a go again. All you really need to know was that SHIELD was dismantled and Coulson and co are on the run/ in the shadows. I feel if this was the first episode people saw they would be hooked right in

If Hartley doesn't come back, we'll blame it on Loeb.

I wish people wouldn't beat up on Loeb so much. The guy's had a rough life, and from what I can tell he's an absolute mensch.

I froze the frame on that scene where Dum Dum opens the crate, a split second before Carter slammed it shut, and that's definitely a blue torso inside, with markings on it's forearm....three vertical lines side by side with a horizontal one crossing through it. It must be Coulson's Kree from Tahiti.

The 084 also had symbols on it. I wonder if this is going to tie in to the terragin mists and the Inhumans.
