Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of SHIELD - S02E11 - "Aftershocks"

Damn 120 people in this here thread. I'm hoping the ratings match it as well when they drop

Hopefully.

A 1.7-1.9 rating would be ideal. Last 2 episodes were 1.8 & 1.7. So it remaining steady after a 3 month break would be good.

.... so Tripp was Gabe Jones's son? Interesting.

Fitz is still buggy after all this time? What was it exactly? Brain damage? Permanent?

Hey, was that "Hunter" among the Hydra council? LOL. And they killed him! No!

Raina will hopefully get sweet revenge on Skye's father. He's such a cruel jerk.

Skye's powers- geokinesis (Titans' Terra), or general vibrations (Marvel's Shocker) then?

Like everyone else mentioned (the majority, anyway) this was a great episode.
Loved the scene between Fitz and Skye. The feels, right? Poor Raina, though.

Her zeal to eliminate super powered people came almost immediately after the guy she had the hots for was killed by the process, and even sooner after some of her co-workers had their throats ripped out by a superpowered person. I wouldn't call it clumsy.

I guess thematically it made sense but to have her take such an abrupt turn seemed a bit off (a point I make in my full review, here). Just the language she used could have been a little less harsh. I mean, for someone so smart to not assume that the crap that changed Raina would have done something to Skye as well seems slow.

I love the new dynamic between Fitz and Skye. Fitz has always had a crush and now this is his in! In all seriousness, having play a purpose outside of him trying to become a functioning member of the team will be good.

The one downside was the distinct lack of Cal. His one scene was nice and it did give us a clue as to what he will get up to the rest of the season but Kyle McLachlan is just too good to not be utilized.

Really great episode :D

It just seems so severely out-of-character. What scientist with any sense of ehtics sees an epidemic and then wants to wipe out everyone who's infected? I mean, I get why they're doing it. I'm just hoping there's more to it than simply being meant to convince Skye she's not welcome. I feel there are better ways of doing that.

Great episode next week looks to be even better. This is the best superhero show on tv right now.

I'm reading in other reviews that those were SHIELD agents who killed all of those Hydra leaders (poisoning the Baroness, gassing the Sheik etc)...and not Hydra killing each other. That would make sense given Coulson's state of mind, but I missed it in my first viewing.

First off, it'd be grandson, and second off, RACIST! Are you saying he can't be Dum Dum Dugan's grandson just because he's black?!

Bakshi stated directly that SHIELD fooled them into killing one another. And considering it was Hydra devices that did it (cool callbacks to earlier in the season, btw) I think that's a pretty safe bet. Especially since SHIELD wouldn't know where to find them (or even who they were).

I only want a guest appearance if it makes sense. My least favorite episode of the show was the one that they forced in because Thor came out and they had to track down some Asgardian weapon (not that Thor appeared, but still).
.
The Well? Personally, that was my favourite episode of the first half of season 1

They were definatly Hydra. They used Hydra-Obelisk technology to kill them

I believe he said he was Gabe's grandson in the episode when he was first introduced.

Also, was this the end of Hydra...or just a major setback to them? I missed part of the episode.

Yeah, thanks guys...my impression was that it was Hydra killing each other...though I'm clueless as to how SHIELD tricked them into killing each other.

Great episode! This show continues to hit all the right strides and has been an absolute blast to watch. Can't wait for Sif next week!

I took it as the Hydra high council letting themselves be killed rather than become SHIELD captives.

Set back. Von Strucker is still out there and I'm sure there are others.

That was the assumption. Then Agent Carter introduced Happy Sam Sawyer.
and then there was the photo of the original HC in Tripp's mother's appartement tonight. so, whoever Tripp's grandfather was, he was one of the original team.

Nevermind...Hunter's ploy was that he was hired to kill Bakshi by the other members of the Hydra council. It's clear...I'm just stupid.

But I think we can rule out three of them (Dernier, Falsworth and Morita).....at least I think so.

a lot of others. cut off one head, two more shall follow. tonight they cut off five heads, so prepare for 10 new HYDRA leaders

I can't believe how good the episode was after 8 weeks off. They managed to put three seaperate storylines in play yet still play perfect tribute to Tripp and STILL have Coulson put forth and executed a perfect plan to hurt Hydra in one single episode!

Maybe the best 60 minutes yet!

I thought they would coast in to the second half but they started all gun blazing! Outstanding.

I don't see why.

Well we haven't seen Trip's father, so his father could be Blasian (Black and Asian) and his mother being full Black, which could make him 1/4th Asian. That seems a bit of a reach as is Trip being a quarter British or a Quarter French.

It has to be Gabe Jones though as I would think that during the time period of before it became common, Interracial dating/marriage was taboo, especially in the two decades following World War II, around the time that both of Gabe's parents were born.

It might be that Dugan had a fling with a black woman who in turn grew up to marry a black person, who gave birth to Trip, making him 1/4th White. But Dugan may have spent decades trying to hide that fact and it doesn't make sense based on what Simmons said about Trip and his grand-father if that was the case.
