His evil motivations are poorly portrayed and so much is reliant on the viewer to just know and accept thst luthor is evil. Such lazy poor writing.

I thought Jesse did a brilliant take on Lex when he had Superman at his mercy on the helipad. That was a great scene

It was definitely an over the top attempt to try and prove he is psychotic and give him ticks. I got it, it just didn't work for me. I like our Lex being someone of some serious level as one pointed out before can command the room. A presence of leadership. I get they wanted a bit of that Ledger Joker edge, and it just failed for me. Psychotic mmmm yes MMMMM superman. No thanks, I'll go back to corporate Lex in a second. I think Jesse could have played him well which is the worst thing about it. Either lead in a direction or had too much freedom to play this up.
I like a Lex that could have ran for President. This Lex is too busy getting in trouble not being that kind of a lead, that is manipulating from behind the scenes.

I find it interesting a lot of female fans really seemed to like this version of Lex at a higher rate compared to male fans. Obviously no formal study and different population segments, but I've come across that. I'm not sure the reason though, no clue

You should start a poll to prove this theory. I've been thinking about it, and think you may be onto something.

Fangirls are probably a little more open minded in the versions of Lex they can accept  Not as tied down to the calculating and even charismatic at times business man version.

You know another thing I just realized...is there anything in the movie to even suggest that Supes has any idea Lex is a bad guy until he kidnaps Lois and his mom?

It might've worked if there was a beat in there on the helipad where Supes confronted Lex about the Capitol bombing, saying he knows he was behind it and when he's able to prove it, he'll show the world. (That part would require some tweaks to the story for that to make sense). Then Lex plays his full hand.

Considering all that Lex goes through to ruin Supes in the movie, it would've been nice if Supes be a bit more confrontational with him. I mean, after he saves Lois does he even have any notion of why Lex is doing this? I'm trying to remember here. He has the whole "she's safe on the ground, how bout you?" quip, almost like they're long-time adversaries...but clearly they aren't here.

Not at all. I love the business man version and had hoped for that initially.

And I doubt this "females liking Lex" more than males thing is even a thing. If it's based upon the hype, keep in mind that there's less female posters in general. So, if a couple of us like him, it may seem like phenomenon when it's not.

I think he probably used super hearing to overhear Lois and Lex.

I found Superman/Clark had not only a kryptonite weakness but some a.d.d. problems ;) Let me listen in on Bruce and follow him, then when the tv is talking about Superman I'll sneak into the kitchen and watch lol.

polls don't count for anything...ask WBwins...

I have noticed this in not just this forum, but in some real life discussion as well. Maybe they aren't all "fangirls" though, but many girls were more likely to say how they found him fun to watch. Guy friends though were way more split or negative I found, even those that really like the movie. I heard many saying how they loved everything but weren't crazy about this version of Lex. No hyperbole, serious.

Even if liking past versions, maybe female fans do seem more accepting of this version of Lex though. A bit more open minded on what they can accept for Lex possibly.

“I don’t know if they are so settled on where my character goes,” Eisenberg told Business Insider about Luthor showing up in future movies. “I only hope I have another opportunity to work with these wonderful people and play this interesting character.”

Hmm, I don't know then. Either way, I would have enjoyed the business man Man of Steel style Lex as well.

just saw a BvS Tv spot. Maybe they are making another push?

People keep saying "businessman" as if this version of Lex wasn't one. Pretty sure this Lex conducted more professional business than any previous cinematic incarnation of the character.

^ I think people (or perhaps just myself) are using the businessman moniker as a short form to mean a more traditional comic Lex, as found in Man of Steel.

The news wasn't about Superman. It was a girl trapped in a fire. Superman puts a priority on saving lives.

it was pretty evident that he hates superman

- What else would you call the mother of a winged demon?
- You don't need to forge a silver bullet. But if you do, you don't need to depend on the kindness of monsters.
- God is tribal, God takes sides! If God is all-powerful He can not be good, if God is good He can not be all-powerful!
- We know better now, don't we? Devils don't come from hell beneath us. They come from the sky.
- the whole waving a flower to tyrants story of his father

called him a tyarant,a winged demon,a monster, and a devil seriously what else do they need to say to show you how lex feels about superman.
