But Snyder likes a Superman who would ignore those cries for help. Don't you see the frickin' problem, here?

Hah I honestly don't think they do. Just like shooting Jimmy in the head is "fun." Snyder could say anything at this point and he'll be defended.

Yeah
I also assumed that in Lois's case, he kinda always has his ears pointed towards her since she clearly has a knack for getting herself into trouble. If he's already listening, he is able to intervene. But in the case of Ma Kent, he didn't know she was captured until Lex told him, at which point he would have zero idea where she was since she was abducted in Smallville, but taken to Gotham

And he only had an hour to do this before she died. I mean, I don't get hating Snyder on this one. Not at all.

Anyway...

My takeaway from this entire thread is that it is agreed that BVS is a misunderstood masterpiece.

That's what you got from it?

Do you really think someone will be able to live with himself (and be sane) if he/she were to hear cries for help every waking second?

If you want to play with semantics, sure he's ignoring it.

He's always been doing that, in every freaking iteration.

I kind of like the idea that he’s taught himself not to look because if he looks it’s just neverending, right?

He's taught himself not to look.

Not. to. look.

Not. Superman.

Strangely, I'll defend Snyder on this. I think he means overwhelming.

I think the big thing with Superman, at least for me his biggest challenge, is that he can't be at two places at one time. That's a great dilemma for the ultimate superhero. And it makes sense- I can totally understand how Superman has to fine tune his ear for those important to him and sometimes shut it completely off in order to not go insane from saving others and, at the same time, hearing others suffer because he couldn't be in two places at the same.

I don't like Snyder as much as the next guy, but come on.

I agree Superman can't be everywhere at once but then you have the plot hole of how is he always aware Lois is in need of rescue. A simple solution to the little dilemma was to have Superman scan the city with his Super hearing and then be thwarted by Lex having put in place a solution to stop him from detecting where Martha is being held. Make some **** up about Lex inventing a device that doesn't allow sound to leave a room and locks it in the room the device is being held in. Another issue your going to have with future Solo Batman movies is how can Gotham be at threat when Superman is your next door neighbour. These are things these guys should really think of before trying to map out an entire universe.

Just leave it alone. It's utterly pointless to try and have a discussion about this film that doesn't resort to "you're wrong, I'm right and that's the way it is."

Not. Superman.

Even Superman Returns handled this. And made it compassionate. And understanding. This is like "what, if I can't hear Lois or Ma then **** it"

Yep. Yep. And yep.

The Lois one is simple. He knew where she was going to be. If they live together and Lois tells him she has an assignment in Africa, wel...

As Martha, it's not like she was actively talking or saying anything in the damn warehouse. She was basically mute and scared out of her mind. Yeah, should she have yelled out really quickly? Probably...but for heaven's sake, we're gonna start dissecting Martha now?

As for the Gotham/Metropolis thing, I had read somewhere that there's a comic that actually has them as sister cities. Could be wrong but I think that was revealed in the lead up to this movie. I don't really give a ****, to be honest.

Refer to my previous post. the same thing as the Force in Star Wars. You could literally use the Force to get yourself out of just about any situation or conflict. Thats always going to be a problem when dealing with someone so powerful.

Really?

You posted Morisson's Superman on the previous page, right?

Why's he just sitting there? He could be saving people.

Why does he even have the Clark Kent personality? Why not be Superman 24/7?

You may not want to deal with this, but it is the truth - Every iteration of Superman chooses to ignore the cries, otherwise it would drive him insane.

Because he's a good man (I think we can agree on that at least).

Exactly. Everything Zack says is controversial, even if it's canon :(

It's almost as if he's not good enough of a director to avoid being controversial :/

It's just getting to the point of being past ridiculous with how people are going at this film they supposedly really hate.

Because this does not apply to BvS silly...
Maybe they should make JL like the old Batman show where they explain what they are going to do before, during and after they do it.
I think there is animi like that.

Yeah in this case I think that this is again part of Snyder being bad at communicating. The simple fact is that Superman can't save everyone, its impossible, and it would drive him mad if he ever tried to do it.

Its why I've always liked the Donner version of the death of Jonathan Kent, it served to show that lesson. There are some things he just can't stop.

He knew Lois was going to be in the water looking for the Kryptonite spear? He knew that she had been kidnapped by Luthor and where they was? And the issue with Gotham and Metroplois being sister cities is any great threats to Gotham will now have the audience asking why doesn't Superman intervene since he is literally just across the bay. I don't mind situations like this but show that you have thought things out and have a relevant response to movie goers answers.

Yep, lets face it. At this point people just want to complain about everything regardless whether or not its logical.

Superman would literally hear everything, not just people crying out for help but people going to the bathroom, snoring, watching tv, talking. Of course he has to tune everything out.

People who complain hes not listening but then complain the clark kent persona is dead are hypocrites. He'd basically be superman full time when hes resurrected which sounds like what you people want.
