BvS is tearing up the pulse on fandango right now...3 of the top 5 spots.

Yes because wanting quality is bad. :funny:

I love how that is a problem. Wanting Oscar quality flicks. This is the exact mindset that lead to so many horrible superhero flicks over the years. The idea that you don't need to try as hard just because it is a superhero film.

You think they hired a Oscar winner to write this because they didn't want something on that level?

No superhero film will ever really be Oscar quality.

Most exciting achievement Oscars wise was Ledger winning best supporting actor and I'm 99% certain that wouldn't even have happened if he hadn't died.

Comic book films have to much action in them for the snooty Oscars

Mad Max was just nominated for Best Picture. The Return of the King won the Oscar for Best Picture. The only limitation are those we place.

I'm glad they stopped using yellow teeth for Oswald on Gotham.

This is cool. As a DC reader I have to say I was hype for this movie too bc this was a moment I thought would never happen. And I loved it after I saw it for the first time in the theaters. I could only imagine what that felt like for a Marvel fan.

But now... My Gracious Lawd! It's actually about to be my/our turn as DC fans!
Wow... unbelievable.

The day will come when a Comicbook film is recognized by the academy. I just think that day is still a ways off.

One day it'll happen. I don't think any time soon, however. I've noticed a bit of an anti-CBM/anti-tentpole vibe when it comes to the Oscars. Or maybe that was just last year.

Less anti-tentpole more anti-superhero flick. Yeah, that is definitely a thing right now. Though to be fair two superhero flick have already won an Oscar. The best two so far imo. :woot:

The mad max one baffled me to be honest. Visually stunning, standard on the story and Max was a supporting character in his own film with little dialogue

Anyway, I don't see these types of films, the Batman's, Supermans, Spidermans and Captain America's ever being Oscar quality
