To me, the whole thing comes across as desperation. No structure, just random announcements. A friend of mine says it's like after Man of Steel, WB decided to skip the rest of Phase One and jumped ahead to Phase Two.

How desperate is a studio that has the biggest summer movie of the year and their third biggest domestic box office ever? And that's coming off the previous year when that studio had their sixth and seventh biggest movies ever.
I can think of only one other studio that has had as much success in the past couple of years. Sounds more like they are capitalizing on what works and scrapping what doesn't.

IMO I think it's fair to say that the WB/DC is lacking a chief architect for these films - that's the reason for all of this pivoting and dart throwing.

So far only Kevin Feige has been able to pull it off.

Looks like that Harley Quinn vs Joker movie is happening from the makers of Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Let me guess: it's not part of the DCEU either, right?

At this point the only sure things after JL are probably WW2 and The Batman , with everything else in the TBA/Limbo category.

To be fair, talk is cheap in Hollywood and nothing is really set in stone until these alleged projects go behind the camera.

While I think WB do wanna have their cake and eat it too by having a Martin Scorsese Joker film along side a Leto/Robbie Joker film , a Superman Red Son film while the MOS franchise lays in limbo, A WW2 while having her be a villain in Flashpoint, etc. , I do think alot of these plans/wishes are still dependent on how JL does critically and box office wise.

They're very reactive, and while they may intend to have a cinematic multi-verse , I tend to think their fear will win out of JL bombs hard critically and under performs at the box office.

How the hell do they expect to develop any kind of support if they're constantly chopping and changing things? Say what you want about Marvel's films, but they've got their house in order in terms of brand support and trust.

I honestly hope it dies. As much as I loved Crazy, Stupid, Love, that's not the type of comedic sensibility I would like applied to Joker. Leto's iteration looks to be destined as the poppy candy-flavored substitute.

I'm afraid that's going to crash and burn especially in light of darker, grittier Joker in the hands of a more dynamic and prestigious team.

At least one of these projects will never see the light of day, imo. They're just hiring people with ideas, and they'll take the one(s) that look most promising once they've got scripts, storyboards, etc. and move forward with that I'd wager.

Aquaman has a December 18, 2018 release date.

They're very reactive, and while they may intend to have a cinematic multi-verse , I tend to think their fear will win out of JL bombs hard critically and under performs at the box office.

The only effect Justice League bombing will have is to confirm the Snyderverse is dead and DC Films is ready to move in a new direction.

I read a while back that Killer Frost would replace Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad 2.

I don't think the exact amount has ever been disclosed, but she's personally attested she's in it for the long run:

Q: This is one of those roles that you could potentially be playing for years. Is that scary?

A: Yeah, that's daunting. You don't need to have commitment issues to be frightened by the fact that you might have just signed 10 years of your life away. … But with her, it's a character I don't think would ever get boring. Ever. So if they did "Suicide Squad One," "Two" and "Three," I would be over the moon about it.

A studio only has to be right once a year. And in addition to Wonder Woman they were right this year with Kong: Skull Island, The Lego Batman Movie, Everything Everything, Going In Style, Dunkirk, and Annabelle: Creation.
Their only major flop was King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. And that one had been in development hell for years so it was sort of a mercy killing to release it. And CHiPs was cheap to make so no big deal it flopped. Even if
Justice League totally bombs they are still 7 for 10 with hit movies. And JL will probably make money even if the critics totally trash it, so more likely 8 for 10.

I dont think they are doing the cohesive universe, where all movies are building upto a event thing. They are just taking the characters and trying to tell individual stories with them, where they all share the same universe. But you will also have cross over movies like JL. Kind of like in the comics.

I did read that, and I guess thats up in the air. We really dont know. Like Greens said, the first two categories are the only ones we should care about at the moment.

I think Reeves's comment could just mean that he has complete freedom to do his own thing, or maybe it's a prequel with different actors.

As for the non-DCEU movies, I'm all for it.

If say...James Cameron or Steven Spielberg wants to produce a Fleischer Superman movie, The New Frontier, or a Kingdom Come movie, I say let them. Or maybe these movies won't be in the DCEU because they're going to stray almost completely from the source material, and I'd be up for that too if they have a neat idea.

Why are they trying to greenlight so many Batman-related projects? After this year's WW, you'd think WB might try to launch something WW related, like a movie about the Amazons or a Steve Trevor spin-off or something. Maybe Patty Jenkins won't allow it perhaps, as part of her deal with becoming WW2 director?

Why bother with a Harley and Joker film? I could understand a Harley film, but the Leto Joker doesn't seem well received, unless they completely reboot his character.

Why not even greenlight a Superman sequel which could be a soft reboot, so that Cavill could have the chance to play a more traditional Superman?

And I still hope that Cyborg movie is dead.

I could easily have done with a WW prequel with Diana still training on Themyscira and having an adventure amongst the Amazons before Steve Trevor's plane ever crashes. But the way the film was, it doesn't seem to leave much time for that.

WB giving 1 person the power to pick and choose what movies get made? No way. He and "DC Films" always felt like window dressing to me

For all we know Johns could actually be trying to create a cohesive universe. Only to get shut down by WB in favor of more Harley Quinn spinoffs

What the hell WB? Things were starting to shape up nicely and now we are getting elseworld story lines? The GA will be confused as hell, remember how many thought Batman Begins was a prequel to the Keaton movies?
