All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - Part 13

I think you forgot this one.

Last night at a VFX conference there was a sizzle reel shown by Weta. In this sizzle reel there were two beta level (most likely from a trailer) clips shown. One only about 6 seconds long, the other much longer.
The former was Clark Kent grabbing a truck with a crying man inside of it while flying through the middle of a tornado. It looked incredible. Henry Cavill can fly, and he can hold a truck in one arm. Zack Snyder brings his usual visual flair, but somehow is still unlike anything he has made before. It felt like a Superman comic. Real heroism.
The longer clip was even more stunning. The clip consisted of Superman in full costume with Zod in the center of Smallville with Christopher Meloni yells at them through a megaphone next to a tank. Meloni warns them he will fire if they do not surrender. While he says this Zod [played by Michael Shannon] sizes Superman up. Shannon looks evil as he can be. Bone chilling even.Cavill’s Superman is a wonderful sight to behold in motion. Cavill’s pure size makes him the most believable Superman to date. Zod speaks in Kryptonian “Do you know your native tongue, Kal-el?” Superman looks stunned, and responds in English, “Who are you?” (there isn’t enough Superman dialogue to judge Cavill’s performance fairly, but I’d say he did well. Nothing spectacular from this clip.) Meloni curses, then into a walkie talkie orders the tank to fire. Superman hears this and turns to the tank. Zod takes this opportunity to sucker punch Superman ,then when the tank fires Superman rushes in front of Zod, despite the punch and catches the exploding missile near his stomach. The flames ripple around him, hit his face, his cape, his eyes. The shrapnel hits him and bounces off. The same happens to Zod to a lesser extent. Meloni’s shocked expression when they remain standing, silhouettes in a cloud of smoke, ends the clip.

I had an orgasm thanks dude.

I was specifically referring to the cape.

I know that the Superman's suit is of made of Kryptonian tech and I am happy with that, since I always supported the idea that suit should be of alien origin, that reflects the way Kryptonians dressed.

I never liked the idea that Ma Kent made a suit of Kal El's baby blankets.

But, Goyer always finds a way to include some elements from past and present Superman Mythos (and comics) into his script, so it is possible that Cape be made of baby Kal El's blankets, and I wouldn't be against the idea.

It's just a speculation, we will know for sure when we see the movie.
What if Jor-el takes his own cape and wraps baby Kal-el in it just before he closes the door of the spaceship and launches it.

superman and jor-el cape are completely different.Superman cape red and jor-el cape look purple.

Also 158 days 'til the official countdown thread. :super:

My bad, it had nothing to do with what you said, I just can't comment in the no discussion thread. I was just being humorous, well, trying anyway.

Oh ok I got you now.You thought it was a new photo posted in the photo thread and when you looked it was a old picture of jor-el suit that I posted by mistake that's already in there. That is humorous.

Its amazing that I've watched the Russell Crowe teaser a hundred times and it still gives me chills.

"You will give the people an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you. They will stumble. They will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders."

I know that by memory.

Might be just for the trailers.

God don't, it's too exciting!

I have never been, nor will I ever be so excited about a movie. Even if there are sequels, I don't imagine i'll be quite as excited as this first one.

Two-thirds through Cold Light Of Day now. Hard to judge Cavill's performance because of the overall quality of the movie. I actually thought it was worse. But I'll agree, the movie is a pretty empty and futile affair.
Cavill's performance is not particular stellar which is a good thing imo, at least to me. It'll lower my anticipation somewhat for MOS which I think is needed.
For everyone in here.

Easier said then done, at least with me. I'm hoping I shouldn't have to lower my expectations for fear of being disapointed, since if MoS doesn't deliver, it really won't have an excuse. All the right ingredients seem to be there, and Superman Returns is fresh in everyone's memory as how not to do a modern Superman film.

With strong material to get a story from (Birthright etc etc) and the team using Nolan's Batman as a framework, for me it won't be a question of how did they get it so right (if it turns out great) but if it disappoints, how could they screw it up?

Aww damn I've just jinxed it havn't I? :p

I just mean by now, one would hope all the pitfalls would be so easy to avoid, it'd be harder to screw up MoS then it would be to make it great. That's not to say its impossible. If it doesn't turn out well, its going to be absolutuley inexcusable.
