It seems like a slightly flippant statement that's been thrown in. Either way, we shall see what happens. I'd be more concerned about the wider scale of things if I was in at WB.
Right now it seems WB are panicking like mad since they've got only Batman to look forward to as a successful franchise considering Harry Potter's almost done and nothing else seems to be on the horizon.
Maybe they should consider trying to support up and coming filmmakers instead of depending on franchises consistently. I mean this is the studio that gives Eastwood, Nolan and Scorsese (on a lesser scale) free reign.
Surely instead of just following the superhero trend and handing out paychecks on demand they should work on finding more talented directors, letting them get developed through smaller films and groom them to become blockbuster directors.
I agree.
WB is likely panicking now. They need to step back and realize that they don't have to put out a comic book film every year to match Marvel. Marvel has that niche sown up.
WB should focus on book-to-film which is it's strong suit.
As for the franchises, I am sure WB is worried about MOS. MOJO's article didn't pick MOS to be one of the successful comic films of 2012. So there is a lot of skepticism about Suprman and movies out there.
As to comic franchises specifically WB should forget doing a film for 2013. Instead use Batman to leverage a JL film in 2014. Superman can't be in it because of the lawsuit so the premise could be the Man of Steel is missing and presumed dead. A world scale threat is facing Earth and Batman brings together 2 or 3 other heroes to confront the threat.
If the film is a success then take the character most appealing to audiences and give that character a solo film.
Seems like the logical way to go. We'll see if WB takes that course.
interesting............
''and as of right now nobody is completely confident in the script they have.''

Yeah, right.
The ''and as of right now nobody is completely confident in the script they have'' line is just fanboy serving an old rumor in an attempt to make himself sound knowledgeable to prop up a link to a story on THR.
And then at THR, where there is no mention of MOS, of course, we have this tidbit concerning Green Lantern,
"Sources say Warners still believes in the franchise, even if the studio is 'somewhat disappointed' with Green Lanterns result."
Yeah. Right. The "Sources" are saying it and not Warners.
It ain't happening!
It may make a good story on a Sunday afternoon, but it ain't gonna happen.
I agree.

The thing I find interesting about these stories that WB is set to move ahead with a GL sequel despite the poor performance is that WB never was so positive about SR in the month or so after it's disappointing debut - let alone in it's second week.
As I recall it was late August 2006 when Horn said WB might consider an SR sequel but only if the film crossed the 200 million mark domestically.
I find it hard to believe that they could snag crowe for his first ever CB film if they werent sure about the script. He ain't that desperate for work.
But, at the same time, if the script stinks it up, wouldn't it hurt him more than help him?
I mean yeah, he'd be in the film, and have work, but he would also been known for being in a failure ( hypothetically speaking ).
I don't know. The article may be correct. It just seems to me he would want a hit at this point.
true...I forgot about that.
Gawd, I hope like he11 they get it polished up.
i dont understand how they could STILL be unsure about the script/story. i thought the nolan brothers came in and saved this thing once goyer couldnt get through the third act.this movie has been in development for years now with nolan attached. there is no excuse for everything not to be lined up perfectly.
WB has made no statement concerning a sequel, all we have here are anonymous "sources."
GL is a total commercial failure.
They sure as hell ain't going to do no sequel!
Maybe there is something to that Superman curse!
If MOS underperfoms as did SR then whomever ends up with the rights after 2012 will have didlly squat. This is Superman's last chance. If it fails then the franchise goes to the grave a la Flash Gordon.
*IF* it's true, maybe they are trying to overcomplicate superman. He is not some enigma wrapped in a mystery that needs figuring out..He is a straight up, raised in the midwest, boy scout who not only knows right from wrong, he backs it up with deeds.
Just give us a straight up superman story with plenty of action and you'll have a hit.
That sounds like old news. I remember something about problems with the script months ago.
while this is true you stilll need some drema. even if its forced drama.*IF* it's true, maybe they are trying to overcomplicate superman. No need in reinventing the wheel. Just put some splash on the one you have.
