scene from the movie, when Supes arrested by the police :woot:

I'm totally wih ChickenScratch here. I mean Marvel is everywhere and DC is owned by a company that really doesn't need these characters, and they're not in a position where DC is that important to them as far as films go. It's hard not to be jealous of Marvel fans.

Even Catching Fire is being promoted and it comes out in eight or nine months and it is a sequel to a well reviewed smash movie that, from what I've read, had great DVD sales.

I doubt Lions Gate is spending millions upon millions to shoot and release those portraits to facebook. They don't even have to market the film nine or so months out but they are because they don't want to leave anything to chance.

Man of Steel is one of many Superhero films coming out this year, it is not Inception and cannot be sold that way in the slightest.

I saw Oz last night and saw all the new posters and displays for the Summer films and thought, something is missing. I've begun to begrudgingly resign myself to waiting for the next trailer to hit in April or May but the posters need to hit next week.

Hunger Games is getting hyped because the MTV awards are coming up.

Was the trailer attached to Oz?

No but IM3 and a short Star Trek trailer were. Pretty dumb that the trailer wasn't attached though. And I don't mean a new trailer, I mean why wasn't the months old trailer attached to a movie that's probably going to open with 60+mil at least?

I know but its funnier to think of it the other way.

Maybe showing more of the film now isn't necessarily a better strategy. More doesn't always mean better.

Maybe different films shouldn't be marketed the same way.

Maybe there's more than one right strategy in marketing a film.

Yeah, I was referring to the old trailer as well.

Too bad, I was hoping to see it again on the big screen. But maybe I'll get lucky and it'll be attached to my showing.

The Dark Knight Rises was promoted last year on MTV Movie Awards so I don't get that dig at The Hunger Games.

Also Games was nominated last year and thus isn't up for any awards this year so Lions Gate is not campaigning for MTV awards. You don't have to campaign for them anyhow because they nominated the things that appeals most to teens. Like all those comicbook movies.

You know what I can't wait for? MTV usually do a making of doc that lasts 20 mins for the bug Summer films so I reckon they'll probably do one for Superman.

I have yet to see a Man Of Steel trailer on TV, and yet Iron Man 3 had one yesterday, Hunger Game had a very old one with the new movie name at the end with the release date.

Man Of Steel, I've only seen the two trailers at their respected movie premiers or online.....I'm not asking for new footage (right now), but show what's already been released more than once for crying out loud

Maybe, but other films aren't necessarily doing it right.

Well, IM3 is following pretty much the exact same marketing template as the Avengers, and that kinda worked out well.

MOS will do well at the box office if the quality is as good as i think it will be. Hell, Skyfall pretty much rode word-of-mouth to a billion dollars but it is a little strange that we've so little of Man of Steel especially seeing how long they've had to do post-production

It seems like they're really relying on Nolan's name attachment to sell this product. Which gives me the impression their not sure the character is bankable on its own.

It seems with Iron Man 3 just releasing an image of his helmet is getting people wild.

We've seen much more of MoS than that hunger games sequel.

I do find it interesting that a cracked image of batman's helmet(still think that's dumb) was all over the place last year and now we're seeing similar methods in the marketing of IronMan. I wonder if Ironman will also be "broken"

Why did you think Batman's cracked helmet

Here's something that I find interesting. "Elysium" didn't release anything more than a few stills as far as I know. No trailers, no teasers, no posters, and it launches less than 2 months after MoS.

That’s because Iron Man’s franchise has already had two financially films that’s been released before, along with the fact that the popularity of the character was boosted by the whole impact that “The Avengers” made last summer.

Man of Steel is currently the first film of a hopefully planned franchise, and the last film wasn’t exactly met with universal acclaim; nor was it a box office hit either. They need to use whatever they can get people interested in the film. If the film is as good as we all hope it would be, then it’ll ride on its own merit afterwards, and they won’t need to use Nolan’s name in order to sell it as much.

All I know is I hope Man of Steel is a box office hit for the sake of the franchise.

you whiny fanboys/girls need to stop. you'll take what WB gives you, and you'll LIKE it.....( heavy on the sarcasm )

If it’s really true that its production budget was 225 million, then the film is going to need to make AT LEAST 525-550 Million for Warner Bros. to be happy with it. SR made 390 Million at the Box Office, and they were disappointed with that outcome. One of them even said that they felt that SR should have made 500 Million.
