They delayed it because of The Hobbit..

They delayed it because they ain't got a thing coming out this summer they believe it. They are praying something sticks. Gatsby, PR, MoS, just something.

And haven't used it at all. Year of Superman my backside. :whatever:

yeah I know...if I were head of marketing I'd be making a HUGE deal that June is the 75th anniversary of Superman and that he just so happens to have a new kick-ass movie coming out that EVERYONE needs to go see!

but.....I don't work for WB sadly, so oh well

My point is that the Bond producers had a 50 year Anniversary and 50 year film history to use to promote Skyfall - that is a HUGE advantage to promote Skyfall.

Imagine if Skyfall had been released as planned in 2010. Would it have had the same level of promotion? Not a chance, but Bond 24 (which the producers would have made 100% sure was out in 2012) would have been promoted like mad. Skyfall wasn't marketed to promote the 50 years of Bond, it was the other way round. The sad truth is regardless of quality, the Bond film in an Anniversary year can be really promoted.

In terms of anniversaries, WB have not really promoted any of their superhero products. There WAS a plan to celebrate Supermans 60th Anniversary - with 1998's Superman Lives. With Nicholas Cage. Yeah, good idea eh....

Yes, but you have to use it. More importantly, you have to use it correctly. It wasn't the only thing they depended on either.

75 years of Superman is sitting right there. Nostalgia it up. Oh wait, that is right, they are trying to act like everything that came before wasn't really all that good.

Bond had 50 years of films, most of which are mediocre to downright horrible. They still didn't shy away. They didn't just act like everything between OHMSS and CR didn't happen. They embraced their history proudly.

You're forgetting one fact. WB tried the tactic of Superman movie nostalgia. It was called Superman Returns, and it failed.

Snyder has repeatedly gone on record as saying that MOS will be as if there was no Superman film before it. A complete restart. You can't restart something at the same time as reminiscing about the old films. One or the other. Snyder and co. have chosen to start anew, their best option.

Bond films CAN be looked back fondly because they are part of the same story. You may have had a reboot by the time of CR, but at the end of Skyfall, we are right back to the beginning. MOS doesn't have that luxury.

Not sure if serious. Skyfall was not only very standalone, but there is little continuity to Bond.

And yes, you embrace the character. The comics, the movies, the television shows, the awesomeness of Timm's Superman in all its incarnations.

This character is Superman. If it is a complete restart, why is it a Superman movie?

Who said anything about reminiscing about the old films? It's the 75th anniversary of Superman, not the Donner movies.

So are they litterally just going to leave us with that Superman handcuffed poster until next week? I mean it's not as bad as the new Wolverine posters but it's kind lack luster, execution wise.

Oh well, onward to next week! I just hope they look decent.
