I think that was perfectly fine for the 1st TV Spot.
yep. IM3's forst TV spot only showed a couple of seconds of new footage too.

Yeah that was a pretty piss poor tv spot. I'm a little irritated that is what some new viewers saw first.
Seriously?
Should have been new footage this late in the game.....more action especially for a Mens Hoops Title game.
This is WB's and Nolan...holding things back till the last minute of course.
Yes.
As fans if we put ourselves in the position of a general movie goer, I would say in that short clip it gets the (buzz word) epic feel accomplished in a short amount of time. Very well done imo. Most people would conclude that it is a journeyman type film about Superman, which will garner interest.

Heck yeah! It was tightly edited, had some good narration, and a few seconds of action. It's exactly what they needed for a first TV Spot.
On a certain level I think it's better executed than the trailer they pulled the footage from (Though I love that trailer.)
Typical.

my thoughts exactlyIts starting. About damn time.
Well, considering it is just a condensed version of the previous trailer, i find the selection of shots they opted to keep and exclude odd.
Not included
-mid air collision between Superman and someone else between buildings
-Perry White running from collapsing building
-Russel Crowe close up
-Zod close up
-Metal object flying infront of explosion
-Alien pod by Kent farm
Basically, many of the more action oriented shots.
While including
-split second shot of Costner (can't even tell its him)
-Military guy and old guy stare of screen
-Superman flying by huge light beam
-Close up of Lois
I would have cut the military and old guy shot, switched the Costner close up with Russell Crowe's close up (he is more recognizable) & added the mid air collision & Perry fleeing collapsing building shots, personally. Give it a grander, more action packed feel.

It just played flat. It felt rushed and lacked dynamics.
