They'll want to save Superman either way, if a Ghost Rider sequel is being made to save THAT character...well...you know the rest.
Yeah, but GR isn't in the middle of a crippling lawsuit. WB could settle financially already if they wanted, but they're waiting to see how MOS turns out. If things go wrong, then it'll be up to DC to sort it out from then on. Thattll be after the family gets the rights back![]()
No but they had to make the movie, or they were in danger of losing the rights. They went ahead and made the sequel to keep the character. I wouldn't worry about WB/DC losing Superman, different judges different outcomes.
I hope so. We don't want to see a cheap Superman knockoff![]()
If MOS is a success, then WB will want to save him. If not............I dread to think![]()
If MOS is a huge success...Toberoff will do everything he can to get a huge percentage in the 'settlement'....which could throw an even bigger monkey wrench into things. the more Superman is seemingly 'worth', the messier it'll get.
Generally...people will fight harder and longer over a million dollars than over a quarter, y'know?
I agree with that 110%...
Toberoff is a slimy, greedy bastard...to say the least
And he's not going away, unfortunately.....
It is unfortunate indeed. Why doesn't someone in the family come in and say look, this guy is no good...he just wants money and part of the rights to Superman??
Because they've apparently already signed some of the rights over as payment for his legal services. They'd have to buy them back from him with money they couldn't pay him in the first place.
So...much like their parents...they signed a bad deal and are stuck with it.
Then WB needs to buy those rights from Toberoff...it's highly unlikely that WB would not be able to pay him a substantial amount of money for them
I'm sure he'd be more than happy to sell them for a huge discount.
Nah...he's looking for ongoing ownership interest and income generated from Superman one way or another. Hence, his trying to start up a production company as well.
Tricky man....! And you can bet WB is more than eager to do be in partnership with Toberoff after this whole thing. There is a very distinct possibility that WB will forego any sort of settlement arrangement and try a different version of 'The Hero Formerly Known As Superman' with the elements that they still hold....because what's in their best interest is what they can own completely head-to-toe...not share in revenue no matter how much it's worth.
He might as well hang up trying to get ownership of Superman. WB/DC would never let that happen...or at least I don't think they would
Like I mentioned...I think he's got it already, in terms of a percentage of the heirs' "half". That's how they paid for his legal services up to now, since they didn't have much money to begin with. So whatever settlement would be made from 2013 on, he'll be legally entitled to it just like the heirs...which would give him negotiating power over the actual amount. WB/DC can't stop that if the deal between the heirs and Toberoff is already done. That's the kicker.
I see what you're saying but what I'm saying is WB wouldn't willingly let him get the rest of it. And if he already owns half, they should try to buy his half or just pay him a percentage of the profits both sides can agree upon
I hope he isn't the end to Superman as we know him...or period
As much as I can't stand Marc Toberoff, he has really set himself up big time.
And yet he's having trouble getting funding for his production company.....
...I wonder why.![]()
![]()
maybe people see him as a leach...![]()
Well...let's see.....he represented the S&S heirs in heirs vs. WB....the Kirby Estate in Kirby vs. Marvel...so he went after two major studios/production companies...and now he'd like to get into movies.
It's kinda' like trying to get more clients as a marriage counselor by sleeping with their spouses.![]()
The phantom zone would be the way to go.
