All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - Part 4

If you're so super strong that you are invincible, and so fast that you can travel near light speed, would heavy armor really make the difference?

But he's not as powerful or invincible as before, hence needing the armour, and I'm sure he's more than strong enough to move around in the armour without breaking a sweat.

And people still defend this reboot in the comics after this JOKE about him not being as powerful anymore. That's absolutely ridiculous. He was a joke in TAS and too weak already...

Writers who do not understand Superman have been doing that for years, from Denny O'Neil to Byrne. Wolfman and Miller, on through Jurgens, etc.

And just what writers do understand Superman in your opinion?

Why would you risk it when there is absolutely no need to wear heavy armour whatsoever?

When your travelling to save a little girl who's about to be swept away by a volcanic eruption, every single millisecond counts. Cause being just a fraction too late means she's dead.

It wont be forever. He'll become more powerful as the story continues :)

Elliot Maggin, Joe Shuster, Jerry Siegel, Tom Mankiewics, Richard Donner, Alan Moore, Dan Jurgens, Mark Waid, Paul Dini, Bruce Timm, Grant Morrison and sometimes Joe Kelly and Jeph Loeb. That's my list. Hopefully Goyer is going to be included in that.

This mentality of taking crap first so he can return to the normal status-quo later baffles me. It is a shame.
:doh::doh:

Sam mentality of rebooting a soft drink and then coming back with the 'classic' version.

They wanna make you realise what you had, and then appreciate it more when it comes back :p

Can't wait for this film, a standard needs to be set because I feel too many films are getting passes as greater than they are. I have faith in this project really putting the audience in the impactful world of a comic book adaptation.
Marvel Stuidos. you connect comicbook heroes together and you give them a faithful suit and ............its a great movie..........not.

sorry :woot:

You are starting to become really annoying...

Admittedly confused.

Considering: I'm referring to every comic book adaptation since spidey 2.
(with the exception of Vaughn's work)

Where did they confirm that the armour is going to be protective? Hadn't read that anywhere.

I think it was mentioned that despite his powers, he could still be injured. I do not remember them saying current Supes would be weakened only in Action comics where his story begins. If he runs up against Doomsday level opponent having armor may not be a bad thing.

New Man of Steel Illinois Filming Locations - http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=80414

"A scene from the upcoming "Superman: Man of Steel" movie, some of which is being shot in Plano, will be filmed on the U.S. 52 bridge over the Fox River east of Serena."

Sounds interesting, but I have no idea what it could be.

"The stars will be out in Sugar Grove next month, as scenes of Warner Brothers' new film, "Superman: Man of Steel," will be filmed there."

Which stars I wonder? Dont know what Sugar Grove is.

So, a bus-crash huh? That's... new.

In Smallville it is...I mean, are you seriously complaining when filming barely started???

Wha?

Thief believes every man steals... or...?

So, a bus-crash huh? That's... new.

Or not... cause there was a bus crash scene on a bridge in STM... :whatever:

Whatever tho, i'm excited to see what a Snyder style bus crash scene on a bridge will look like :)

It's only when they start talking about JK dying, or a hologram Jor-el in the fortress that i'm gonna complain.

I don't see what the big debate is over. It hasn't been said anywhere that the new movie is related to the comic reboot and it hasn't been said if he's going to have armor in the movie. CHILL.

I'm pretty sure it's already been said that the reboot will have nothing to do with the relaunch.

If the scene is anything like the one in Birthright I think it'd look fantatsic.
But we don't even know if Cavill will even be in that specific scene, or if it's anything "super" at all.
Since the suit pic hasn't been officially released, I think it's a fair guess that the suit won't show up in the scene.
Maybe Clark jumping to the rescue of someone.
