i don't mind that...i wanna see metropolis, not chicago. i actually don't like that they're using chicago. i've seen that city enough, i hope it's unrecognizable

They could always use the old standby of New York again.

This is too exciting! Imagine, there is a Superman movie in the works. I really hope we get some of those inside references like Zack did in Watchmen like Gunga Diner and the elephant, etc.

I loved it that New York was the backdrop for Metropolis in the Donner films. In my mind that is always what Metropolis has been.

I've always wanted to see them blend the best highrise buildings in the world, and even make up a few CG buildings, in order to create Metropolis.
I want to see a Metropolis as a city that we have never seen onscreen before.

Me too, but something tells me they'll downplay it.

Creating a city is something that's hard to get right in these movies. They either go WAY over the top like Burton and Shumacher did in some of their Batman films, or they just look like normal cities.

Burton's first Batman was pretty good... it was a tad over-the-top with the architecture but not ridiculous like Batman Returns or seizure inducing like Shumacher's films. And Nolan's first Batman film did a pretty good job of creating a new city. But in TDK it just looked like Chicago.

CGI has come a long way. When I saw Fast Five I was amazed on how the producers created many buildings with CGI. 95% of the film was shot here in Puerto Rico very close to where I work and drive daily and I was amazed on how much they changed settings with CGI. I think Snyder won't dissapoint with his view for Metropolis.

I don't want Metropolis to look realistic like Gotham did in TDK. I thought BB had a better Gotham. I want to see either a retro futuristic city or......i dunno....something. :p

Retro Futuristic. . . I like that style.

I agree. In my opinion, it should be a mix of 40's ART DECO architecture and futuristic brightly lit buildings.

I'd like to see a shot of Metropolis from the air, where all you see below and off in the distance is dozens and dozens and dozens of insane looking highrises.
It is called metropolis for a reason after all, not normalville.

I'm really disappointed that they are using Zod again. I was hoping for a villain we have not seen on the big screen betore like Brainiac or Metallo.

Zod makes perfect sense for a orgin story that suppose to have a huge krytonian background.

Most people had the same reaction man, but chances are that this Zod won't feel at all like the old, especially if they go more Krypton-heavy with the back-story. Let's hope so anyway!

I'd rather have Brainiac as well but thats not gonna happen, so I'll play the cards that's delt.

Yeah, it would be nice to have a different villain, but I think the reason they're using Zod is because they want to work Superman's Kryptonian origin INTO the main plot of the movie, rather than just having it be an obligatory first half hour of the film. Zod allows them to do that. IF they have Superman's origins being somewhat of a mystery to Supes himself, then Zod can reveal more of it to him. Brainiac(especially the STAS version) could serve that same purpose, but he's the kind of villain that should be built up to for a sequel, which the Zod plot could ALSO allow them to do. Maybe Zod's attempted rebellion could be because he thinks the ruling council of Krypton is putting too much trust in Brainiac, who Zod recognizes as having ulterior motives.

Oh yeahhhhhhhhhh. :D

Sounds great to me! If not 40s then maybe 60s? I think a futuristic 60s would look neat....maybe.

Yeah when I think of the words "Metropolis" I think of "amazing" and a city looking towards the future.

Yeah but personally I don't get tired of Zod. Smallville made Zod more exciting to me, i'm open to different interpretations. I would like to see Brainiac and Metallo as well though. I think they deserve a big-screen debut.

Hopefully there is a sequel! ;) Then maybe Brainiac.

I may be asking for too much and be sorely disappointed, but I really want to see Metropolis look like two or three super powered beings have used it for their personal fight ring, ie, tops of buildings knocked off, cars and trucks sticking out of buildings here and there, piles of concret on the streets, and cars flattened and burning everywhere on the streets.

You may say ''superman would never stay and help be a cause of that''...well, he may have no choice if he is fighting two beings thats just as strong as he, that refuses to leave, and would cause that damage whether he is is there or not. I dont think flying off will work this time like it did in S:II. I don't think this Zod will care. Supes would have to face them and try to prevent as much damage and death as possible from happening.

Come to think of it, all we've heard is that it will have lots of action, but what kind of action exactly, that's what I want to know.
Also, should they go for the same sorta violence that BB and the TDK had, because I can really see Zod killing humans like we would ants, without a second thought.

Captain America was pretty violent and it was a lighthearted romp so I wouldn't have problems with violence.

I'm thinking the same. I really dont want this film to come off as too lighthearted. Superman can be the lone bright spot of course, but I want Zod and company to be ruthless as he11 and I want it to be shown, not just implied.

this is zack snyder i am sure we wont have to worry about him going too light hearted lol

I like stylization in Batman, but not so much with Superman. Gotham can be Anton Furst/Tim Burton style and I don't mind, but I wouldn't like it much if Metropolis looked like something out of STAS. I prefer contrast, an amazing, powerful, nearly god-like alien coming to a world just like ours. I wouldn't mind if the technology of Earth were a little bit ahead of real life tech, I just don't want it so apparent that Metropolis looks almost like an alien city.

man its hard to believe like a year ago everyone was wishing we would be at this point...:yay:....and now look, im so happy for all superman fans out here, no matter what preferences we have, you just have to be happy that were getting another crack at the superhero we all love.....nothing can tear me down at this point....:woot:
