I'm glad.

For his sake (and mine), I hope Cavill's Superman has some of that Siegel/Shuster swagger that you saw in the Fleischer cartoons.

It would be nice. As far as Superman goes, the Fleischer cartoons are always a great source for inspiration.

I'm hoping that the MOS sequel(s) will take a leaf from the 1990s animated series in terms of the Lois/Clark dynamic... and maybe the villain choices. I don't think there's going to be much of the Daily Planet until a sequel.

Fleischer is a good one too.

LOVE the Fleischer 'toons. My first exposure to Superman, and one of my very earliest memories.

HitFix is counting down their 25 most anticipated summer movies. "Man of Steel" has not appeared yet, they have revealed numbers 16-25 so far, and both "Iron Man 3" and "The Wolverine" have made the list: http://www.hitfix.com/summermovies

That was also my first contact with Superman. My father was a huge fan of those. And I think the perfect balance for Superman. The darker pattern of colors in the suit, real classic comic-esque scenes and powerful without feeling overpowered.

Kuro was my dude. I miss him around here. He is the Superman stick in the mud like I'm the Bond and Conan stickler.

I do miss Kuro, but then I think about what he'd be saying about the full body shots of Cavill's new costume... and that makes me miss him a little less.

Agreed. TAS does not get nearly enough credit as it deserves. The Fleischer series is always brought up as proper inspiration, but, for my money, TAS offers better character development, more entertaining stories, and an overall great world for Superman to occupy.

The Ruby Spears cartoon isn't too bad, either. It's basically a direct adaptation of John Byrne's work on the character.

Same. They're special to me for that. Some of the visuals are just etched into my brain. Like Supes joining the severed cable and becoming an electrical conductor, and holding out his cape to shield Lois from the lava. They're public domain now too so I've been meaning to revisit them sometime.

I've actually never seen these before. Looking at one on Youtube now and the animation is off the ****ing chain!
It was apparently the inspiration for the style of Batman TAS, and of course, subsequently, Superman TAS.

Speaking of STAS, that was my first exposure to Superman. And since I never warmed to the Donner series, it remains my "definitive" screen incarnation of the character. Hopefully not for much longer, though. ;)

Saw Oblivion tonight and yeah, they played the older MOS trailer with it. Gotta admit, it annoyed me because I really wanted to see the new one on the big screen.

Yeah I was immediately very cynical but at the moment for me they are hitting all the right buttons. Great setting (Christmas Eve can provide a beautiful looking game), decent sounding story though can be very repetitive and will need some beefing up, big map (though they must keep the same level of detail Rocksteady provided). Isn't also a living Gotham City? Which will mean normal people walking about? Does that mean that they will interact to Batman gliding around them or will they do it so Batman can't touch the ground in certain areas (like the early Spider-Man game). But yeah I'm okay with it so far but I'll wait till I see a gameplay trailer/demo. I'm very worried that Origins will be rushed.

Anyway different topic for a different thread :D But a Superman game has a lot of potential but could easily also fall in to the trap of being a complete rushed cash in.

I know it's off topic and I apologize but I just wanted to quickly say that Origins has been in development since 2010 apparently so it is most certainly not being rushed.

On topic, has this been posted yet?

This is why I literally don't see the point in going to the cinema for at least a week or so. Because I know my annoyance at not seeing the new MOS trailer will probably impede my ability to enjoy any movie I go and see :funny:

The more I watch the trailer the more certain I am that it wins best trailer for any film coming out this year.

It's a beautifully constructed piece of work.

Even as a lurker I couldn't help but mind Kurosawa. No matter how well versed or competent he was, his stubborn narrow mind was too much of an opposite of mine for me to stand.

speaking of people that are bo longer with us...there was a dude who did some pretty decent manips a few years back...can't even think of his name because it's been so long since I've seen him. Maybe a name change???

This the first image where I thought, yeah the whole suit does work. Even the not so great piping.

Am I the only one who actually really likes the piping? I think it'd look wrong without it.
