1. november could be a good date :awesome:
2. they will not work on the movie until summer 2013. when the movie will be finished they will stop and then realese it. the studio will not pay every CGI artist for another 6 months for tweaking shots. thats not how this works. when the movie will be finished...........AND IT WILL BE BEFORE 2013 IMO they will stop. i dont think Paramound worked on Star trek until april 2009. remember ST was moved from december to summer.

GL's main problem was their aproach to the effects. 100% greenscreen ,a cgi suit and Sonyimageworks. 6 months more time wouldnt change this.

in my honest opinion the only was MOS would be rushed is if it was reaelesed in summer 2012. everything after october is enough time .

summer 2012 seems impossible. they have batman already. how about early 2013?

i wrotte that it would be a rushed movie if it was realesed in summer 2012. impossible? nevah

I see Batman is getting yet another animated show. Why can't we get a new Superman animated show? :csad:

It likely will, considering Supes is getting a newfound life in DC Comics, and MOS will probably continue that. It won't be for a little while I'd imagine. Most likely closer to 2013.

Just decided to posted here instead of the photo trend.

Jor-El's costume is actually very good, it' will obviously look different visually on screen. However, the armour is too medieval looking, as opposed to being functional. Think about the slightly elaborate armours wore by King Henry VIII, one such example:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/25/Henry_VIII's_expensive_armour.jpg

King Henry's armours were't that elaborate in design and they were brightly polished with a lot of colour. Medieval clothing, house etc of the nobility tend to be brightly colour and not worn down unless in a battle. This among the reasons was why the nobility favoued gold and gemstones so as to to be closer in term of divinity.

I hate deconstructionsists. Superman film isn't supposed to be depressing, dark or even grounded in reality. This is why I feel that the arguments about the red trunk were ridiculous. If I want to, I could choose Batman or Spiderman for a tonally dark and realistic comic book film. For Superman I want to be entertained, to smile and laugh.

Films in 1978 that I remember going to:

Grease
Superman The Movie
Jaws 2
Coma
The Deer Hunter
Autumn Sonata (Ingmar Bergman)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers

There were several more that I couldn't recall, that year was preceded by the likes of Star Wars, Close Encounter of the 3rd Kind, Saturday Night Fever, and followed by Alien and Apocalypse Now. In those days I used to go to the cinema a lot and I was always thoroughly entertained with a nice balance between serious, not so serious and horrific drama. Superman TM was tonally different from Coma and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and in the following year Alien managed to scare the ***** out of me like no other films before and since - some of the audience member took the excuse of going for toliet break but in reality they just wanted to escape and hide. After the film ended many of the audience including I were in daze.

I just hope that the trio, Synder, Goyer and Nolan could deliever an entertaining Superman and avoid the depressing storyline of Super Returns. I also hope that they don't fall into trap of making a little too formalistic Hollywood blockbuster with similar tone, theme as the other latest incarnation of comic book films seems to be taking on.

Let me test the board with choice expletive, Man of Steel better be mother****er magnificent!

Since it's coming from Imdb take with a grain of salt, but they list Michael Kelly as Steve Lombard.

If superman is going to get a new animated series, sure hope it's not in cgi. Hearing about the new batman series got me a little nervous

Same here but with that alongside the new Green Lantern series I'd say its most likely what we will be getting.

Whats the source for the movie has far has comic inspiration? Im wondering because with the new DC 52 reboot he no longer has the red trunks and it appears in the movie he doesnt either.

Not sure where to put this, but here looks okay...
Is there any indication as to when we might expect some form of trailer for MOS?

I don't think so. When the release date was still Dec. 2012, I thought they'd release a teaser with Sherlock Holmes 2. Now that they've changed it to 2013, I think we'll definitely see the first teaser with the Dark Knight Rises.

For those who are fans of Superman because of his character (altruistic, friendly, kind, helpful, non viscious, etc....) I would like to recommend that you check into Doc Savage.

Clark "Doc" Savage Jr. was one of the main models for Superman's creation. Created by author Lester Dent in 1933 for the Pulp magazines that were prevalent at the time, Doc was raised from birth to be more than the average man. Through rigorous exercises (both physical and mental) he became an expert in multiple fields (a fully licensed medical doctor as well as having doctorates in many other areas) and devotes his life to fighting crime and helping those in need. As early as the first novel about his character he is referred to as a "superman" because of his abilities.

The pulps were generally very violent and sometimes lurid in their depiction of crime fighting and the people involved in all areas of it (the heroes had a tendency to indescriminately kill anyone who got in their way)....but Doc tried not to kill his opponents (that doesn't mean that some don't die, they do, but it's mostly due to their own greed and stupidity). This in itself set his books as different from all the others at the time.

So if you are interested in seeing where the creaters of Superman got a lot of inspiration for a decent well intentioned crime fighter who strives to help as many people as he can for no monetary gain....check out the adventures of Doc Savage.

After seeing the trailers to Tower Heist and This Means War, I'm thankful that Ratner and McG are not directing this film.

You could make the same argument against Snyder after seeing the awful trailers for Sucker Punch, an awful movie.

Not really. Snyder tryed something different and failed miserably. Both Tower Heist and This Means War look like cynical, cookie cutter films these guys have been making throughout their careers. I admire the director more who tries something and fails then the ones who only strive for mediocrity.

Overly-stylized green-screen look with hot-looking girls that kick-ass in slo-mo action. That wasn't very different from Snyder's earlier work.

I'll give you This Means War looking like crap (Good...God...why did Witherspoon, Hardy and Pine sign on?) but Tower Heist looks perfectly enjoyable.

Also gotta be fair. Ratner was the guy who wanted the unknown Matt Bomer for Superman when everyone wanted the big-name Brendan Fraser and McG...as much as I don't care for him his influence is evident in Returns (the plane rescue) and Man of Steel (Cavill, that suit).

Well on a side note, MOS has one less comic book film to worry about for 2013's summer releases, especially in the comic book genre, since Thor has been moved back to November of that year.

Personally, I think having fewer comic book movies aligned up next to each other within the summer gives more room and air for the GA to breathe so that they don't grow tired of comic book superhero films.

Yeeeeeah. Thinking The Man of Steel might move too.

All comic fans should read and study pulp heroes, and Doc should be one of the first if not the first.

We'll have to agree to disagree here. I think we was really trying to say some real specific things about sexual empowerment using a crazy, schizophrenic dreamy style. Yes, it's a similar green screen film making he's done before, but used to totally different effect. I think Snyder indulged himself far too much and the movie was a complete mess.

It's similar to how I think of Southland Tales, a movie that I find unwatchable. It's a complete failure, but I still admire a director who at least try to swing for the fences, even when they miss and strike out.

EDIT: I'd like to mention that I don't hate Ratner or McG, but looking at their past films, I find it frustrating that they don't strive for anything other then well executed mediocrity.

Fair enough, Lighthouse.

If that's the case, is it wrong that I wish it would move earlier?lol

Been back and forth rumors that The Hobbit is dragging its feet in shooting and may not be ready for next Christmas. So there's that (Plus isn't The Man of Steel going to be finished filming at the end of January?)

But as of right now, you'd have to say late July 2013. WB loves that slot after The Dark Knight and the big movie that was supposed to go there Pacific Rim just moved up to the second weekend of May.

Mix that together with Thor 2 now being off that summer altogether, and I think we're looking at The Man of Steel moving to the studio's reliable mid/late July slot.
