I reckon we'll get a teaser trailer sooner than that cause evidently they filmed scenes for the teaser already.

nah, all the marketing now will be for batman, but i have a feeling the trailer attached to the dark knight rises will be something special

Maybe a MOS teaser with Sherlock Holmes, along with the Trailer for TDKRises with Sherlock and then a Trailer for MOS with the release of TDKRises in July?

Even with footage available, the marketing has to be timed carefully. Given its summer 2013 release, peaking too soon has to be a consideration.

I still think we'll get a teaser before TDKR if I'm wrong then I'm wrong :D

That would be very early. I mean Spidey film early and it's trailer premiered about 12months before it opens. Similar to TDKR.

For superman to go for an 18months prior teaser or what not...I mean has that ever been done?

Everyone thought there'd be a Superman Returns teaser in front of Batman Begins. So it's not a 100% foregone conclusion there will be a Man of Steel teaser in front of The Dark Knight Rises, kiddos.

if man of steel follows the superman returns marketing formula, we are in trouble

No but their most probably will be, plus if you think people are gonna sit down and the teasers probably gonna mention Chris Nolan. From that they'll see TDKR and probably automatically assume Superman's gonna be good of course depending on whether TDKR is good (but we know it will be)

I'm thinking we will most definitely see the MOS teaser trailer with the release of TDKRises come July.

Snyder and WB's would have had plenty of filming completed, especially for just a 1:10-1:20 minute teaser.

The Batman name has a lot more value now than it did with BB, so chances are higher WB will want to promote their next flagship franchise. Considering the ample time they've had, it would be moronic of them to not take advantage.

It is very likely. And MOS will be done filming and in post by that point anyway.

No, but by far it's the front runner of what films it could be attached to.

I doubt that we'd get a teaser during 2011 since I haven't heard of any film being promoted with a trailer nearly 2 years in advance of its release.

And their names were misspelled...

Incredible piece of history. It is literally where it all started-the publication and the indignities. The same ones that carry on today, as Joe Shuster's costume is no longer good enough for the kewl kidz-it's only the greatest design ever in an American fantasy series.

At least Grant Morrison has given us back a character that reads like what Siegel wrote.

A tad on the "No ****, Sherlock" side given all the set pictures, but this gels with what we've heard. Take it for what you will either way.

Cosmic Book News has just received another tip on the new Superman movie, the Man of Steel.

You can read our previous early draft spoilers here.

This one has to do with the climax of the movie and sees Superman, Zod and Faora battle it out in Smallville.

Here are the details:

  • The showdown between Superman, Zod and Faora is the climax of the film.
  • This occurs just after Zod discovers Superman's secret identity as Clark Kent, which results in Zod attacking the Kent Farm.
  • The result of the attack leaves Superman "pissed off," battling it out in downtown Smallville vs. Zod and Faora -- who have left the US Armed Forces in ruins.
  • Christopher Meloni's character is also a "Superman hater" and skeptical of the super-hero.
Of course I can't confirm any of this, but set images that came out of the Plano, Illinois Smallville shooting for the Man of Steel do seem to corroborate the info.

Previous Smallville-related images have revealed a strong military presence, a Superman and Faora confrontation, Zod (note: in Smallville) and many battle damaged buildings.

In addition, Meloni was spotted on set who plays Colonel Hardy, and the "Superman hater" bit fits in with first draft plans to have General Lane play that part.

I'd be very happy with all of that, especially:

Zod finding out Clark's identity

Oh yeah...

Early drafts of the Man Of Steel script feature Zod and company being on earth for a good while and "monitoring" the area of Kal-El's crash site, interested in reported feats beyond a normal man in that general vicinity. Not only were other Kryptonians tracking Kal-El but so is the military.

In this scenario, the Kryptonians were banished to Earth. Kryptonian council looked at at life on Earth as a punishment so it tossed out it's worst criminals to various locations on the planet.

There was cross over between Zod and company possibly working with the military to find Superman as well as the military attacking both Superman and Zod's posse, as the government is not sure what yet to make of the Man of Steel.

Also, in these drafts Lex was also involved with the military, possibly as an arms smuggler or weapons mogul of some kind.

Not sure how much has made it to what they are filming now...

See I love the idea of Zod and Faora being on earth and gathering intel, but never the idea that being sent to earth was a Kryptonian prisoners punishment.

That makes Kryptonians regard for human life unimaginably low, doesn't seem like much of a punishment (as they'd get superpowers), and it doesn't make much sense for Jor-el to send his baby there knowing that the worst criminals of their planet were waiting for him.

It would be completely absurd for Krypton to banish them to Earth. There is no way they would do that to Earth. If they were shot into orbit in suspended animation around Krypton and then ended up on Earth after it's destruction or if they were in the Phantom Zone, then it would be okay.
