All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - Part 5

I would prefer the December release date.

I think it's became cliche that every summer there's a big new Superhero flick...having it in the winter would be a nice change.

It would be a nice change. However, if they are not going to be fully ready to go by that December date, they need to keep the Summer date.

Superman's current June date is horrible; if it takes the hobbit date, nothing can stop it!

I agree. The only thing that is good about the June date is that is Supes 75th BDay.

I would prefer the December 2012 release date or a July 2013 date.

We need movies about sitting. As someone permanently seated I would like a movie that represents me. ;)

Brilliant idea actually. If Fincher did a film like that and if what based on a book, it would be all the rage.

Since you brought up the idea, it sucks, but it will be stolen by the likes of hollywood thieves who dwell and lurk these forums. :word:

Damn Hollywood and their internet ninjas!!!

If we were to actually get our MOS film in its original release date again, then that means we could expect to get a full length trailer earlier next year instead.

They could release a teaser with Clash of the Titans and a full length trailer alongside TDKR.

I really really hope this happens now, because being teased with it like this is driving me crazy!

Holy crap. I never knew Superman's birthday was my birthday too. It all makes sense now...

I agree. Plus we'd get to see it sooner. :D

That said, I'm always a little wary about pushing a release date up (especially so dramatically). I mean, it's not like the finished product was gonna sit on a shelf for those 6 months - the filmmakers were counting on having that time to complete their film. Since this movie started filming SO damn early with a December date originally in mind, I won't be too worried about it (if it happens), but I'd certainly hate to see this to turn into a rush job.

TheOneRing.Net is reporting that this rumor is completely untrue.

WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND — In what may be a first, I am sitting in the Weta Cave next to TORn co-founder Erica / Tehanu, and we can confirm absolutely that the rumor of a delay of the first Hobbit film until 2013 is complete, uh, shall we say, balderdash. It is interesting to imagine where the rumor came from but the source here is beyond question. While I hate to drive traffic to the source, here it is just in case. But, be aware, this is completely untrue.

UPDATE: Dan Fellman, President, Domestic Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures has also given a definitive statement on the matter as well:
“Contrary to inaccurate reports – The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is being released on December 14, 2012.

I'd rather MOS keep the summer date just so they'd have as much time has they need for VFX and editing.

Tolkien rules but I love Superman more.

Damnit son of a *****!!!lol It's such a cruel thing for the people to have released such false sense of hope in regards to today's rumors. GRRRRRRR

Well, it was nice to have an exciting rumor at least for a while. Been a long time since any real news has come.

idk..lol..this rumor felt more painful to be proven false, since I was actually excited for once out of all of the rumors we've had about this film to have heard that there was a possibility of its release date being moved up back to its original slot.

Well. Sometimes things get out and studios don't really like that all too much, so you sort of have to...evolve even if you don't want to.

What a buzzkill. :(

Showtime, do you think there's any chance of MoS being moved forward, or do you think it's pretty set in stone?
