The Black Zero is Clark's kryptonite. Faora was aiding Lois in putting on a breathing apparatus so that they can adjust the ship's atmosphere to that of Krypton which will make Clark and themselves normal but remember they are bred warriors thus giving them major advantage. Clark will think that Lois only needs the apparatus to breathe on the ship. I'm assuming superman is more powerful than Zod and Co. due to his sun exposure time so Zod will trick him into thinking he only wants to negotiate to get him aboard Black Zero so they can kryptonize him and kick his ***. I think someone also said that at some point Clark will be imprisoned in Black Zero. Obviously they can't capture a powerful superman and get him out of the way (Zod isn't pure evil and doesn't hate him but only wants him to be patriotic so he won't kill him) so I think this is how they'll do it. If you look at a scene in trailer 2 where superman false to his knees and spits (kryptonian) blood with Zod and Faora around him they are actually on the Black Zero and this is the only way they can match him which is in pure kryptonian form or maybe the Black Zero has the ability to block the sun completely.

Maybe the mistake that Zod makes is bringing Lois on the ship not knowing that the conditions inside the Black Zero allows humans to become stronger and this is how Clark escapes and that shot of him catching her in trailer 3 is him regaining his power just in time to save a normalized Lois. Am I nuts? :woot:

You are exaggerating. Star Trek was rumored to cost over 200mil instead of that 150mil the studio kept saying it cost and it didn't even hit 400mil worldwide and yet the studio was clamoring for a sequel. The only reason one didn't come out sooner is because Abrams was wishy washy about it and doing other things.

Now surely WB is expecting more than 400mil worldwide because Superman is more popular overseas than Star Trek. But that "it needs 700mil" thing is made up by you. It does not need 700mil to start a franchise. I say it needs to be far more well received than the last Superman movie first and foremost and yes with expensive 3D tickets and an expanded
overseas market they are probably looking for at least 550mil worldwide.

I hate to keep explaining the same thing over and over again but I'm sick of these posts saying that anything below record breaking numbers is a failure. Paramount didn't think that Trek making less than 400mil was a failure, Summit didn't think that Twilight making less than 400mil (before the re-releases) was a failure, Lions Gate didn't think that The Hunger Games making less than 700mil worldwide was a failure and Marvel did not think that Iron Man was a failure when it did f under 700mil worldwide or Thor or Captain America. The only
movie they considered a failure was Hulk. Granted MOS's budget is much bigger than Games and Twilight's but you get the idea.

If a studio expected every franchise starter to hit 700mil we would never get any sequels.

Well said, especially the bold part.

Most probably, yeah. :funny:

No, seriously, I don't see that happening at all, I think it's a bad idea.

Another example: The latest Tomb Raider made tons of money - being the biggest moneymaker in the franchise - but Square Ennix was expecting almost the impossible: Call of Duty numbers. Hense to them it was a dissappontment.

That's just counter-initiative and far-sighted.

Yeah maybe too far...how about the Black Zero's ability to somehow decrease the power of the yellow sun or normalize kryptonians even if just a little? Remember this is one advanced piece of ship.

It is all about how much money these projects cost. You wouldn't be expecting so much if you didn't put so much in.

What is the point of making a 500mil on a movie if it cost 350mil?

And Capcom considered RE6 a disappointment despite huge sells but I think that had more to do with the poor reception of the game than anything else.

After Returns I doubt WB has the Spider-Man numbers expectations anymore for the first film. They might have close to Iron Man numbers worldwide expectations.

I just can't see the movie getting excellent reviews from critics and the general public and hitting lets say 550-600mil and the studio saying no way to a sequel.

I'm predicting a little more than 600mil worldwide and would be happy if it blows past that assuming I like the film.

Posting this here...

Ok searching Instagram again, I found this. Is it just me, or does it look like a Hot Toys Man of Steel figure?

The face and like-ness in these is a big deal, which is perhaps why it's in shadow. Hot Toys like to tease big new releases before revealing them. I can't find much else about this though, no other photos.

So has there been any recent early or leaked reviews of the film lately or word about how good the film is? Other than the one from February, I mean.

Why did Paramount make a sequel to Star Trek? It over performed in the U.S but still didn't even hit 400mil worldwide and yet Paramount was eager to make a sequel, why? I'll tell you why, great reviews from the general audience and critics.

This picture is the new lifesize statue of Muckle Mannequins. All the information "in exclusive" will be published for the site where I am an editor:

I've been able to see all the pictures and this statue is AMAZING (or like Zack Snyder said: AWESOME).

Last studio projections i heard were 450 million. That will be the official WB line - it doesn't matter what they think internally, the studio insiders say that the only number which will be heard from WB in terms of WW projections will be 450mil. According to some entertainment journalists, this is in order to avoid a Returns like scenario where the studio was expecting 500 and it only did 400.

Source: Plenty (around 10-12) journalists on Twitter.

There were 2 tweets from Kris Tapley a few days ago saying that his friend just watched it and the reaction was positive. But I don't think we will get any reactions for some time. The studio insiders and friends screenings are probably concluded already and the critics and press junket screenings won't happen till a week or two before release.

Thanks for the info. I don't believe WB is only expecting 450mil but it's smart of them to pretend.

Because they are all out of tent poles and they are riding the critical wave. But I doubt it warranted a sequel financially. This is why we are getting another Transformers and why Battleship was created in the first place.

Saw this on the Box Office forums, from the DC panel at C2E2.

Q: Anything to say about an upcoming Justice League movie or a Wonder Woman movie?
Cunningham (VP of Marketing): "It's coming. The decisions have been made and we'll all know shortly. Go see Man of Steel right when it comes out."

Almost makes it seem like there is a WB/DCE exec sitting with 2 briefcases and waiting for MoS weekend numbers to come in. Based on that, one briefcase will be opened - either the one with plans for future DC movies, or the scrapping of all future DC movies.

Uh, it hasn't come close to Resident Evil 5, even while costing much more. I don't even think it is has passed 5mil yet.

I guess it would help if the film is critically adored like the financially stunted Begins.

lol, it does seem that way. Here is more of that which you posted:

During a panel at C2E2, DC/Warner Bros. VP Marketing John Cunningham was asked about the possibility of either a Justice League or Wonder Woman movie. John Cunningham replied, “Well, we weren’t going to say anything until Warner Bros. studios allowed us to do it, but since you asked the question. Watch this space. Watch it. It’s coming.”

Cunningham added, “I think the best thing I can say to all of you is go out and see Superman opening weekend. Drive that box office. Make people sit up and pay attention to what you want. But I think that the movie business works years and years in planning. These decisions are being made, have been made, and we will all know what they are shortly. And I think we will all be happy when that comes down.”
When asked if there were any plans to use Superman Return’s Brandon Routh in anything Superman related such as animated features, John Cunningham replied, “If we do have those plans I am not aware of them, but let’s hope that after June 14 you won’t want to see anybody but Henry Cavill doing this role.”

As far as marking tie-ins between DC Comics and the Man Of Steel movie, John Cunningham explained, “We’re going to start with free comic book day. There’s also a promotion we’re doing with retailers where they have posters and in-store signage pointing people to specific Superman graphic novels which we think would be great jumping on points. And there’s also another big promotion that’s coming down the pike right before the movie that you’ll hear more details about later, so we’re doing the best we can to put as much stuff out there and build the hype and get people to take what they like in the theater and come back and read our books and see our other products.”

I think WB would be very pleased with IM like numbers and strong reviews afterwards. Nevermind what good DvD sales would mean.
300/315 dom is my guess.

If it can get to 600 million ww, WB will be doing cartwheels. I think/guess it will make around 600/650 mill total.
