I watched Iron Man 3 at Feltham Cineworld, 30th April. Was very suprised that the very first trailer was MOS! Nobody reacted though :/. p.s I was disappointed with the film as well. Anyways MOS looked great on the big screen

No we won't. But I would still assume that MoS will have to compete with the "quality" of IM3 in the minds of the audience where as IM3 really doesn't have to deal with such things in the same way.
If IM3 sucks, that's will factor in, if it's a great 1.3 bill hit and outgrosses all dc films that have come before...

I'm in canada so things were different here, but when 9/11 hit, everything stopped, when Sandy hook hit, not so much. Colorado was more like the latter for us up here. Something that got people talking about stuff, the new batman film included.
The more these things happen the more desensitized we seem to be.

I don't really think it is desensitization thing to be honest. I'd say the reaction in Canada was different because, to an extent, many of us see ourselves differently from the United States when it comes to guns and violence. Rightly or wrongly, a lot of Canadian see that as a more uniquely American phenomenon because of different gun laws/culture. If I recall correctly, the last time we had a shooting with a death toll like that in Aurora was the Ecole Polytechnique massacre, which was over 20 years ago. So, I think events like that don't affect Canadians as much because it feels far away and distant. Something that would never happen here again.

Many people were proud of the idea that MoS would play in front of Iron Man 3 and from that, reign in tons of exposure....

It seems MoS isn't attached to that many prints of Im3.
I've yet to see a Man of Steel trailer in the theater(and I watch a lot of movies). My bad luck.

The poor marketing really gives off the vibe that WB could care less about this movie. If MOS underperforms in any way and it causes a JL movie to not happen (because JL depends on MOS' success), then it will be entirely WB's fault by this point.

I seem to be lucky, I saw the teaser with TDKR, Trailer#2 with The Hobbit, Trailer#2 in 3D with Jurassic Park and now Trailer#3 with Iron Man 3. Haven't missed a single one yet t:

One thing that I hope we get in this film is some epic/large scale Crowd shots when it comes to potentially getting the reactions of people all over the globe in learning that there are aliens among them since Goyer has kept mentioning on how MOS is also like a "First Contact" story, along with others mentioning that the film really shows on how humanity would realistically react if we had someone as powerful as Superman among us.

I think what I learned from IM3 is that having a good villain matters more than I had thought. I liked the movie all right, but won't be seeing it again.

So here's hope Zod and co. have a great vibe, because as much as I'm looking forward to the identity issues and first contact drama, if Zod doesn't work, this movie won't be as much fun to watch.

Absolutely.
A great hero needs a great compelling villain.
I would argue the villain is actually more important than the hero.
You got to have something intriguing for the hero to face.

I really hope MOS uses the best of Shannon's acting abilities. I feel Ben Kingsley's acting abilities were insanely underused in IM3.
But then again, there was a reason Shannon signed onto the film=he liked the script.

Yeah, to be honest, I'd say these sort of movies present a lot of challenges for great actors. They have a hard time knowing how broadly or loudly to play their characters. On one hand, these sorts of movies are larger than life in scale so a quieter, more nuanced performance often resonate as well as it would in a smaller, more personal Oscarbait movie or independent film. (Eg. Bale in The Dark Knight) However, they have to be careful not to chew scenery when going larger than life and thus come off hammy or cheesy. It's a tricky balance.

Jennifer Lawrence has a lot of female fans because she isn't the typical hollywood sex kitten that is popular for just looks. She has talent and an actual personality Nothing wrong with an "average" face when it comes with a brain.
