Hahaha...yes *****es I finally closed out a thread and opened a new one. I don't think I've ever done tgat in all my posting. My life is now complete....oh wait, not until I see Man of Steel a billion times and make babies with the hot chick I went to high school with. Then I can die...I guess

I've read a bunch of them, but there is a significant difference between a secret identity and day-to-day disguise. Clark keeping "Daily Planet Clark" separate from "Superman" would require that imaging technology, the internet and camera phones did not exist in the Man of Steel world, or at least not in the same manner that we know them today. The ubiquitousness of video surveillance used to capture the Boston Marathon Bombers would have to be eliminated in Metropolis. It could work if you set the film in the 30s or 40s, or perhaps even the 70s. But not 2013.
That doesn't mean that Clark couldn't use "espionage tradecraft" or other such means to blend in with the crowds in the big city or, with the help of family, friends and neighbors, keep at least a somewhat private existence apart from his superhero persona. But I think a true "secret identity" would be virtually impossible for Clark - and Snyder - to pull off.

I think WB didn't get the memo about a new TV spot debuting. But they've woken up (posted a new TH3 poster) so hopefully they do something in the next few hours.
And next time I'm waiting for a HD upload and not wasting the feels on low-res stuff.
Sam reminds me of Shimura in Drunken Angel.
There is a big difference between searching for specific individuals behind a certain event in a certain city and doing a worldwide search for Superman. How would the US Government even know where to start looking? For all they know, Superman doesn't even have a secret identity or live in the US if he does. Things like the Boston bombing or the Vancouver hockey riot where social media and technology were used to find the perpetrators are far more narrow and smaller in scale. You have a starting place, You trawl through footage of the specific event for suspicious individuals. Launching a massive investigation into who Superman is when you don't even know if he is someone or where to start looking is a completely different situation. You'd need a Person of Interest sort of scifi machine.
Furthermore, even if your points were correct, they do not necessarily lead to the conclusion that any semi-realistic take on Superman requires abandoning the Clark Kent disguise. As shown by the numerous examples from Nolan's "realistic" take on Batman, all you need to do is provide the audience with a plausible explanation and have it make sense in the confines of the story. People only ridicule the Kent disguise because live action adaptations like Superman Returns and Smallville didn't take it seriously and sell it with conviction. They poked fun at it and lampshaded it.
DKDetective said:I dunno, if they do Daily Planet Clark right, then it's not just glasses and Clark Kent is just one of millions of young, square jawed black haired white males who have a passing resemblance to Superman. I'm not adverse to the idea, but I can understand certain folks around here being wary of Superman having any close connections with the US government based on a certain pair of Frank Miller stories...
Are you ready for Man Of Steel yet? DCs next attempt to get something other than Batman going on the big screen is about a month away, and has fans buzzing with anticipation. We are getting into that really exciting part right before the movie hits, where we get new TV spots that tease new footage.
In the third trailer that debuted in April, fans got a treat when they noticed a shot of Lex Luthors famous company LexCorp in the skyline of Metropolis. However, I am hearing that isnt the only big business that will be mentioned in Man Of Steel. Thats right fans, Wayne Enterprises will be mentioned in some sort of fashion in the film. I have not been told how, or in what way, but keep your ears at the ready for this one.
But thats not all! As if that wasnt enough Worlds Finest for you, I have also been told that there will be more of a direct reference to the Batman character. Im sure that most are wondering if it will be Christan Bales Batman they are referring to, and the answer is no. This will be part of, if Man of Steel is a success, the new Batman for the DC Universe that WB is creating for their superhero films. Once again, no word to me on how they will refer to him, but it should be awesome none the less.
One more thing that I have been told pertains to the plot its self, and is not that big of surprise. It was revealed in one of the junior novels that the third Kryptonian that Superman will take on is Nam-Ek. What I have learned is that Faora and Nam-Ek will be subordinates to Zod, and will report directly to him. So once again, not a big shocker, and most people probably guessed it already.
So there you have it! Once again, and I stress, for DC and Warner Brothers to fully embrace a movie cinematic universe, people need to go see Man Of Steel. The references dont mean anything if the film flops. Also, I will bringing more awesome news to you on DCs movie universe as soon as I can get it, so make sure to check back here at Comic Book Therapy!

Well they did get Santa.I don't care about Clark's disguise. I'm more worried about his spaceship landing in Kansas without being detected by the US defense command (NORAD)...
