^ Well, with TA it felt like fans actually WATCHED the movie. Speaking of which, I think "Amazeballs" should be banned on the internet.

Even if those Amazeballs were dipped in Awesomesauce? :(

I don't get people who overhype films as "the best thing ever" No film no matter what genre will ever be the "Best thing ever" If said film is good, that's all we need.

Time fixes everything. Consider the reaction to Spider-man 1 when it first came out and the general opinion on it now. It hasn't aged all that well. Only time can decide if something is 'great' or 'greatest' or not. Spider-man 2 by comparison, is as great as when it was first released.

Why is this I wonder? It's still a great film last time I checked.

According to some in the Spidey Boards, SM2 is dated and overrated. :o

The last time I was waiting for a film to come out here in the SHH boards was back with Xmen Origins Wolverine, and it was BAD crazy after the film leaked :'(

It ruined the whole experience, especially because the film was bad! :p

Good crazy or bad crazy?
Both. IIRC, there was early word of mouth that was negative of Henry's acting and many here flipped out. Of course it was one of those 'early screeners', so who knows if it was true. Luckily, the level-headed outweighed the cray-crays, but now there seems to be more of that type here now than then. :(

^ Spider-Man's trilogy didn't capture the spirit of Parker from the comics, but captured the genre well. I think the first is pretty good, with one of the best superhero fight scenes. I actually think the Green Goblin's the best villain in an origin movie, but I have similar vibes for Shannon in MOS :)

Speaking in general terms, when it came out it was the "zomg!!! best thing ever!!!!" but now the consensus is a bit more tepid, though still good.

Think I'm going to buy a Walmart ticket just to have then wait to go to the movie Friday or Saturday during the day (I despise lines)

I'm all for being excited and positive, btw. The movie looks really great and I'm incredibly pumped for it. I just like to keep the champagne on ice until the fat lady sings, that's all.

And also, at the end of the day- the action in Superman should be bigger than Batman. The aim of this movie should be to make the ultimate Superman movie, not trying to one-up a Batman movie. The Batman movies will retain strengths that these new Superman movies won't be able to duplicate (more emphasis on practical effects, etc), while hopefully creating their own new strengths.

Dude help me out here, who on the Hype is saying this will top a Batman movie? I'm honestly curious cause I want to know who these people are just to ignore them.

This has happened thrice now: early twitter word on Green lantern was that it was pretty good, it wasn't, early word on TDKR was that it was Nolan's best and the best of the franchise, the consensus still pegs TDK as the crown jewel, early word on Iron Man 3 was that it was the best Marvel studios film whereas the actual release saw different.

All of this combined have made me completely weary of early twitter reviews. It seems only those who are very impressed with the film bothers to tweet while the dissenters or the luke warmers wait till closet to release. The sole exception is the Avengers where the early twitter word of mouth and the latter hype matched perfectly.

Yep. And at the end of the day, we have to see the movies to judge them for ourselves too.

LA Film Fest & Film Independent to host a pre-festival screening of MAN OF STEEL!

LA Film Fest opens on June 13th, which means that the "Man of Steel" screening will be on June 12th. A good move signifying that at least the studio is confident in the movie to allow non-critics to watch it prior to release.

Less then 24 hours before the release in the States. :funny:

Yeah, no offense to you guys but I only care if I love a film. Sure I hope you guys love the film but my opinion is the most important one.

I'm hyped for the film but after The Matrix Reloaded my hype for films have limits. If MOS sucks I'll be disappointed but it won't ever be crushing anymore.

You here ridiculous stuff here all the time. Already proclaiming it the greatest Superman and superhero film "of all-time". Possibly one of the greatest films of all time. Haven't even seen 5-mins of the movie yet. :funny:

None of the Nolan bat movies got the treatment, even non-junketeers had to wait until the movie actually released to watch both TDK and TDKR. Granted, TDK and TDKR didn't need the positive word of mouth, if WB and Syncopy feel that this is a good way to get the ball rolling on word of mouth - good for them. For more recent movies, most critics are not going to be watching "Star Trek Into Darkness" until after its US release (release on Wednesday 8pm, Critics shows are at Wednesday 9pm).

In the latest issue of F*** MAGAZINE there is an extensive 10 page feature with Henry Cavill who talks about MAN OF STEEL but also about Nolan's involvement with MAN OF STEEL..

Here is a quote:
"Chris Nolan wasn't there during the production itself, although I'm not sure how much work was done behind the scenes. I'm sure Zack had a phone call or two with him, but this is definitely Zack's baby. He was the man in charge, and we created the character together, as opposed to having too many outside influences..

:hmm

It was obvious to most. Nolan had nothing to do after hiring Snyder.
