All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - Part 67

Yeah, I don't want to read reviews until after I watch the film because I don't want to spoil anything for myself (at least not anymore than I already have). I just want to gauge the vibe on the movie. Has anyone heard anything? I read a little bit of that review on AICN (avoiding the spoilery parts) and was happy to see that guy liked it. Anyone heard anything else?

If you talking about the review from the other day, IDK if I believe that reviewer actually saw it, or was just making stuff up.

I tend to not read reviews, usually just look at the snippets on rottentomotoes until after I see a movie.

I'll want to avoid reviews, but there's no way I'll be able to do it, especially if many of them are positive. I am a weak, weak, individual.

I don't even need a review at this point. I just want a reaction. Did the reviewer love it or hate it, I mean.

For what is worth, from a Variety journalist:

@marcgraser I've only been hearing gushingly positive reviews from early screenings of MAN OF STEEL. Even from people who don't like Zack Snyder.

I sure hope that the last part is true and that there aren't too many critics who will nitpick the movie to little pieces just because it's Zack Snyder. He has quite a few ´´haters`` among these so called critics, in the past I've even seen some of them claim that there is no way MOS can be good with Snyder directing. So unlike some other movies of the genre, MOS won't get any free passes for it's faults.

Anyway, I will only read a few reviews by the top critics and magazines and such. But I'll wait first for others to check if they are spoiler filled or not. :D Im really only interested in what the general consensus is and what the critics will think of performances. Especially Cavill's. He needs to impress, not necessarily blow anyone away but he needs to be rock solid (looks to be that and more to me so far) for the whole thing to really work.

I'm not sure I even want to! :oldrazz: I think I'm going to enjoy my weakness.
:hehe:

I will look at the Rotten Tomatoes score and some blurbs but other than that I'm not reading one full review. If I wasn't as excited for the film I might read one but I've been trying to stay away from reviews this Summer.

If Devin Faraci gives it like a rave or something I might be tempted but it's a DC film produced by Nolan so I doubt he'll give it a rave even if he gives it a good review.

Never liked that reviewer.

Devin is very pumped for MOS so I don't know what you guys are talking about! :woot:

Count me among those who would rather read a reaction rather than an actual review. :awesome:

I won't be surprised if he likes MOS but I doubt he's going to rave about it like he just did Iron Man 3. He has obvious biases, he hates JJ Abrams and loves Marvel. Well, I remember him rightfully being hard on Thor and Iron Man 2.

Oh, I haven't been on BadAss in a while, it didn't know he was excited for MOS.

Well, if he's critical for Superman being too intense, we'll know that's a good sign :woot:

Is he a hardcore Trekkie?

Same. I stopped caring about his reviews a long time ago.

Yes.

Edit: I take back everything I said he might adore Man of Steel. And again I forgot his appreciation for Snyder, I like Snyder as well and not because he directed MOS. I respect Snyder haters but I don't feel the same way and I'm not sorry about that.

I like Badass Digest, but I took a hiatus after Star Trek into Darkness came out. Not that it's because Devin didn't like it, but he beats the horse dead again and again.

For all the shots he takes at fanboys, he's no different. The difference being, Devin is an excellent writer. I actually like his style of writing when he's not being overly self-rightous.
