I can't remember enjoying so many trailers and spots for a film like I have for MOS, and not end up liking the final product. I'd be surprised to follow and enjoy all the media and end up severely disappointed.

^I wonder what happens to Superman franchise if critics gave Superman Returns higher marks for the Donner nostalgia, and MOS doesn't score as high. I hope MOS ends up being 80% or more, simply because I want a long term franchise and spring point for JL films in future.

I just don't see MOS NOT getting higher reviews than SR. IMO SR is too high on the tomatometer.

I'd say it was likely regardiing MOS and the WB told her to remove it. She is openly a feminist, and I'm sure they wanted to put out any possible fire early to avoid negative press.

If the rumor is true about The Atlantic upcoming review I can't wait to read it. Supposedly mentions of MOS being at the top of the list of superhero genre. I'm optimistic, but until its in print it is just hearsay on the ole' net.

I'm interested in that review. That's pretty high praise if it is indeed true.

I bought tickets for the late show on Friday at a theatre that has the movie in the D-Box--theater with motion seats--and 3-D. No doubt it'll be worth it.

I'm ready for this movie.

I'm seeing this bad boy on June 11th and even now it feels like another month or two. This is going to be a long couple of days, but I think it'll be worth it. Either way

I don't hate SR, but I would see it as being in the 71 to 72 range, and I truly think that the connection to Donner nostalgia and the first Superman film after so many years benefited in initial reviews. MOS will not have the luxury of being the first Superman movie, it is actually going to be fighting the 2006 SR effort in some ways especially since it is a huge depature from it and Donner's Superman.

I don't hate SR either. But I do agree with you about the initial reviews. It definitely gave it a bump. And yes MOS does not have the luxury.

I for one liked TAS and this Jenn Murphy (now with her 15 minutes of twitter fame )had a problem with revisiting the origin again btw. So far I'm in disagreement with her on Spidey as well as STID. Hopefully it will be 3 for 3 in disagreements

I certainly hope I enjoy it because it is my most anticipated film of the year. The last reboot I really enjoyed was Star Trek 09 (Sorry but I never thought as highly of Batman Begins as others).

I just noticed Superman Returns outscored The Amazing Spider-man on rottentomatoes. I like both, but I would have to rate TAS higher than SR. Also, I really thought Garfield knocked it out of the park in his performance as Peter Parker compared to previous Raimi version with Tobey which was a bit too nerdy/whiny for my vision of the character.

I'm cynical with how this will rate on Metacritic. My guess is in the 70s. People have strong preconceptions about Superman and new things are always resisted.

I can certainly see why Superman Returns has that rating, it was bold, explored foreign territory regarding Superman's life and feelings, and certainly was interesting...but it wasn't the story we deserved, NOR the one we needed. Also helped that it probably appealed to a lot of Donner film fans at the time, though. One thing I benefited from SR is that my expectations are so low, I'd bet my entire life savings Man Of Steel can't possibly be that bad for me.

I liked Garfield's Parker over Tobey's just because I don't think of Peter Parker as a Clark Kent type nerd. I enjoyed seeing him play it as the average guy with a streak of sarcasm to his personality. That's just me though, and I do understand there are a lot of fan of Tobey's version.

I guess I'd choose TASM because at least Stone was charming as usual and it wasn't as dull as Returns.
