With the Avengers, I think a lot of it was down to them playing it safe.
It was also an origin movie of sorts: an origin of the formation of the team. Origin films are always safe as hell. Which makes me damn excited for Avengers 2 to see what Whedon cooks up.

Why I am much more excited about Avengers 2, and all the sequels in Phase 2 really.
Cap Am: The Winter Solider excites me greatly. Imagine if it's a quarter as good as the book?

I didn't give a crap about Coulson dying. That plot point was beyond weak.

I totally agree. Who gives a **** about Coulson? And the banter between him and Captain America "watched you when you were sleeping" was cringe worthy. (and they better not bring him back)

Other than that I loved Avengers. :woot:

(and that deleted Cap scene with Stan should have been in)

That's okay there are still people who don't know what TDKR or MOS stands for.

I agree I am hoping that Whedon has more freedom to put more intelligence in the next Avengers film. I actually expect him to have more freedom to give me a less shallow film. He is a good writer, I refuse to believe that he thought the film was the best he could do.

guys, I'm watching the XBOX One reveal (yes, I'm just catching up to speed on it)..........

and I can only imagine, with those graphics and capabilities, what a nex-gen Superman game on X1 and PS4 would be like!!! :wow:

heck, I'd get it just to experience what it feels like to fly and soar through the skies of Metropolis!!! :atp:

please, gaming Gods, we need a great Superman game!!!!!!

Careful, you're making Majik very unhappy. :o

You would just need to pay up an extra fifteen bucks in DLC to have Superman fly more than ten meters, or fly faster than a speeding junky.

Not really. Batman Begins was the 5th live action Batman movie during a 16 year period. They took a pretty big risk of NOT having Batman on screen for the first hour of the film, and in fact a lot of people were wondering where the heck he was. The easy thing to do would have been not doing an origin movie where the title character doesn't even show up until an hour into it.

This is PURE cinema. The way the shadow hits Cavill as he looks concerned over the fate of the world. I'm convinced that MOS won't just be a great superhero movie, but a great movie in its own right.

Hasn't that been the case with most Origin films? I admit BB delayed it a but further, but the hero doesn't show up conspicuously until after the first act. Heck, Iron Man (in his classic red and gold) showed up even later than Batman did.

Thanks for bringing this back to "All Things Superman"...which it hasn't been for a few pages.

:word:

That's the point in the case of Batman though. By the time BB came out, audiences had a certain expectation for what a Batman film should have. In the case of Iron Man, they do everything they can to show Tony out of the suit because of RDJ's charisma. Even in the sequels he is barely in the suit. Hell, even when he's in the suit half the time he doesn't have the helmet on. I wonder what they're gonna do when he retires from the role. He's their sugar daddy, haha.

A fantastic shot, indeed.

Haha I like the guy I just don't want them elevating him anymore than he already is. He's not an avenger, I thought he was cool and all but I don't get the diehards. lol :whatever:

I love the look of this film.

MOS tweeted a costume gallery:

Yeah, I think the use of intentional grainy film stock gives it this "gritty" look, while still having a dynamic visual atmosphere.
