Now when he finds out it's really June 2013 he's gonna be so happy it'll be like... Christmas in June for him.

Avengers is aiming to make between 170 and 180 million by monday. Pretty nifty. People like their superhero-movies. Or team-ups.

WB/DC, whatcha gonna do now?

I imagine WB will make movies and DC will make comics.

Yes it made a tad bit more than BB, but it also cost quite a bit more to make and market.

We weren't discussing its success, we were discussing whether people went to see it.

I wonder what happens after the Avengers.

People are making this out to be the perfect movie. How can they go back to solos when everyone enjoys the team dynamic so much?

Well, they'll do another Iron Man & Thor next year, Cap 2 early 2014, and maybe a new Hulk. Then we'll get another Avengers. So it wont be too long for the fans really.

What i wanna know is how do they top Avengers for the sequel? It's gonna be hard. They'll have to slightly change the tone and do something different with the villain so it's not another "Loki and his army invading" from space type thing.

And there's no way a 3rd can happen unless they replace 1 or 2 key players from the team, like Thor and/or Hawkeye. Just to keep it fresh and not repeat ****. And have an extremely different villain. Most of the solo movies will be done with after a second, so thats what im curious about.

I know what the schedules are.

I mean how can they expect people to be as excited about Cap and Iron Man solo now that they've pierced the veil of what they're capable of together?

These franchises were already running low on memorable bad guys anyways. Mandarin's ten rings don't beat an alien invasion of New York. Thor might be okay, but they can't fight Loki in every movie.

You can't just redo Superman II once people have seen the The Matrix.

Man, I'm gonna get flamed for this, but I don't think it'll be too hard to top the Avengers. The movie was good, but I was not as blown away by it like other people were. I do believe the film set a good foundation for the sequel to be better.

The main thing I see happening is WB forming a plan to do a Justice League film within the next few years. I think we will still see solo films with some being more successful than others, as usual.

June release dates haven't been so hot lately. Superman in July would be optimal I think.

Trailer drops with TDKR.

Nah, i'm right with you. It was a super fun movie, and it got so much right that it certainly deserves the majority of the credit it's getting.

But it's not the perfect movie. And I am looking forward to the sequel a heck of a lot more because I think now that the 'groundwork' is over (as in making sure you give enough time in the movie to properly introduce each character to those who may not know them), Whedon (whom I am a big BIG fan of), will start telling a much less generic story.

ya maybe i didnt word it properly, i myself didnt think it was "perfect" or as outstanding as a lot of others think. I really enjoyed it, thought it was a good fun movie nothing more/nothing less.

But what i mean is..i dont have a lot of faith in Whedon to outdo the first. They have potential to do more with say Hawkeye (even though i wasnt won over by him) and more with the next villain. I have this feeling Whedons gonna repeat a lot of things, it all depends on how he goes about it. We could very well get a similar villain threat, with similar action moments in the next flick. It may not be as fresh the second time around. Therefore i dont have a good feeling about them topping it.

There's potential in doing better than the first but they'll have to shake the formula a bit IMO.

And how can they expect people to get excited for more solos? It's easy, im much more excited about Iron Man 3 simply BECAUSE it's not going to really mention avengers. Iron Man wont be able to call for help from the avengers, its just Stark vs Guy Pearces character and possibly Mandarin. The other solos i understand, im not excited, but im curious to see a non-origin Hulk movie with that CGI and Ruffalo.

You can give some better solo movies without constantly having it revolve around an Avengers sequel. Id like to think theres a lot of people who are like me in thinking this way

Well... unless WB thinks MOS would do better in the spring time (February-April 2013), which it can if it's marketed well and people like it. I think it can do well the first two days of Super Bowl weekend (February 1) and for the next 10 days before Valentine's Day. Or it could unofficially start the summer season by opening early April (which Disney booked for 2014's Captain America 2).

The real problem with MOS' date for June 2013 is that it's positioned smack-dab after films like IM3, ST2, FF6, and WB's own Hangover 3. (Then add the fact that June isn't a reliable summer month for movies not made by Pixar.) If there was more breathing room before and/or after June 14, MOS could do well. Of course, it could do well in the release date it has now.

Furthermore, Pacific Rim occupies that mid-July tentpole release spot WB's fond of.

I am sure that Iron Man 3 would be very popular, if that Mandarin rumor is true. It will be having many flying scenes, it will be a tough competition as critics have a tendency to praise the first movies that are released and term the movies that follow them as "derivative" even though in some cases those movies are shot earlier.

just feels like if a film has any chance of under performing, it almost always does in june.

Not the perfect movie by a long shot but man was it fun and action packed. Great summer blockbuster. There are obviously some issues with the film though, just like any other movie. Going to be tough to see Captain America wandering around by himself being boring when you've seen him going back and forth with Iron-Man and Hulk.

Bigger question is how does an alien invasion with two aliens and one hero (Superman) compete with something like that...

Superman's supposed to compete with Avengers the same way Iron man is supposed to....
it's not.
It's supposed to compete with Iron Man and that ilk.

Are there any plans to include a MOS teaser with tdkr? Seems like a missed opportunity if not.

Avengers... not a movie to hold-up in repeat viewing.

Once the mass hysteria/OMG hugeness dies down, a lot of those raving now will realize that. Good movie? Sure. Great? One of the best comic-books movies? The greatest? No.

To me, the best Marvel Studios movie so far is still Iron Man, Jeff Bridges is the best villain.

The Avengers is a very good film, but not a masterpiece. Nevertheless if I were a WB executive I would greenlit a JLA movie in a month
