All Things Superman: An Open Discussion

Snyder said that the lawsuit problems have NO EFFECT on the script what-so-ever. basically, WB just needs to release another Superman film before 2013 and everything SHOULD be alright.

That's good. I thought that maybe because of the lawsuit, some of Superman's origin couldn't be depict on film.

Thanks a lot for the response DorkyFresh.

But Snyder came aboard when the storyline was done...I do wonder though if Goyer and Nolan knew that they couldn't depict the Krypton exploding/crashing to Earth parts of the story from the get-go. I remember hearing that that's why WB weren't going with an origin story (well, one right from the beginning of Superman's life.)

I'm afraid we're all just pi$$ing into the wind trying to guess the story, ie, origin or no origin. I really hope something leaks out about it and soon.
Personally, I think some of it will be there, but just how much is the question.

You're right, we can only hazard a guess.

btw In the "Secret Origin" comic, Geoff Johns didn't depict that part of Superman's origin either, it first showed Clark as a young boy in Smallville. There was no Krypton and only the holographic images of Jor-El and Lara.

Call me crazy, but i've always thought it would be shown in flashbacks..
Like maybe it opens with an already established superman thats been around for 4 or 5 years. He has already had several run-ins with Lex, maybe metallo, etc etc...
He then encounters the villain in MOS (Zod it seems). Zod would be the most powerful villain superman has ever faced, and after an epic beatdown by Zod, Supes goes down and blacks out. We then see the origin from Clark/Superman's view point...all of it, Krypton, it exploding, SV, him traveling the world, etc etc..

Superman remembering it all inspires him to get back up, and he then returns the beatdown (X 10) to the villain ( Zod).

It's just a hunch, but i'm sure i'm wrong.

Great to hear that they will show Clark/Kal-El as a baby.

Yup. I don't know how else to take it.

It does look likely we'll get flashbacks but the question is how far back will they go. We may just see stuff from when Martha and Jonathan find Clark and take him home. And his life in Smallville.

But we're going to have to get some version of Krypton at some point. Whether we actually see it explode and the moment Jor-El and Lara send Kal away...

i wonder if they'll be superimposing Cavill's face onto the baby :wow:

I guess you cant have a real Superman-reboot for the modern times without showing some sort of origin. The younger audience might need it.

I dont think it'll drag out though. It will be fast or in flashbacks.

Yeah, I suspect it will be in flashbacks and move pretty quickly.

hated when they did that in secret origins. It was just plain freaky.
This movie really should be called "Son of Krypton".After all we@re dealing with a kryptonian mythology heavy movie

Laugh all you want about Cap, but that is probably going to be the highest grosser among the 4 comic book films.

That's because there's nothing wrong with the way Evans looks in those scenes. You think he looks ridiculous? Guess what, grown men as short and skinny as that tend to look ridiculous.

I know but maybe its because we know Evans is not that small i guess. It just looks off to me lol

Diane Lane's comments were very interesting. But maybe the whole infancy thing is flashbacks. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Na..I think GL will be better.

Captain America is going to be good in USA but not so well internationally, imo.
