As a guy who was around during SR's entire development, people were not complaining about the plan to tie Donner to the films, as most of us (At the time) understood that if James Bond could continue continuity, Superman could too.
Hell, the film was getting good reviews HERE as well, never mind from all the critics.
Its not until it underperformed AND the fact that it wasnt getting a sequel that fans started turning on it, treating it like its the "Batman and Robin" of Superman films.
Now, there's no sense of objectivity in regards to that film. You cant really take most of the comments on that film seriously around these parts.
Jamie's absolutely spot on when he says todays commentary on SR is mostly revisionist. Nobody would be saying anything if we got a sequel in 09.
