I think the movie is shaping up fine. We all just need to relax and wait until we see it.

Agreed. Probably the biggest reason why I never listen to rumours (all thanks to my experience here during MOS).

As cool as a show like that would be, I'm not sure it'd find a a big enough audience.
Exactly, that's why I was so curious to hear what other people might think of this idea.

BUT. I should stress that the concept would be HEAVILY promoted to properly explain that this is neither "Smallville" or " Lois and Clark" or any Superman movie. But a by-season exploration into the this character that would fully contain the elements that people know and and expect from this character. Like the big scale action scenes ( hence the 13 episode season, so that each episode gets a pretty big budget to deal with every aspect his life)
The action and " cool" stuff would still be there, but not for the sake of it, and not where the focus would be.

Honestly, I think a show like that might catch on really well. TV audiences are more about character studies these days than they used to be.

I've been out of Ohio for the past few months, so I didn't know they had made new license plates (Again?!), but this is pretty cool...

Yeah, I understand. I would straight up love a show like that. But, I think it'd also have a hard time getting made just by the nature of being superhero-related and what audiences seem to want out of these type of things.

Also, it should be noted that what you're describing very closely resembles the orignal pitch for Smallville, before the WB got their Dawson's Creek-y fingers all over it.

To me it sounds different since that was kinda part of the point of Smallville. At least when it was the young Bruce Wayne show anyway.

The original pitch for Smallville that I heard was along the lines of "A very serious and emotionally driven character study with sic-fi elements that focuses mostly on Clark's development and relationships and not so much on fighting random bad guys every week and has real teenage actors who look and act like teenagers with none of this Dawson's Creek nonsense."

Never heard that one. I just remember seeing the first promo for it and before the words could even come on the screen, I just instantly had a feeling it was about Superman. Then, knowing it was going to be on The WB, I expected something like Dawson's Creek at least.

It wasn't until years later that I found out about the Bruce Wayne show and how the SV producers copied that idea due to not being able to make their own Batman show because of the next Batman film. That show sounded more serious, seemed to actually have a plan in terms of how the show would end, and I suspect wouldn't have been all over Selena like SV was with Lana.

It would be a dream come true to be honest with you.
Each season we'd go into the things that Superman mythology and taking the opportunity to explain things that people mock a lot of the time.
Like the glasses for instance. As a child he has trouble controlling his various visual abilities and the strong prescription ( or some such explanation) of the glasses keep that in check, so he grows up being considered a bit of a geek ( also take a bit of a distance from people because of his strength, and you know, fear of frying people by accident), while not necessarily showing it physically as his physicality would be developed from an early age.
Later on when he discovers the fortress he goes deep into Kryptonian technology with a robot like Keelex in Man Of Steel and after he presents the idea of a dual identity, the robot simply states that Kryptonian technology does exist which can be incorporated into the glasses that would emit certain waves so that people in near proximity would always see him as nothing but truly mild mannered ( by program of course) But also being told that this technology can only be used to a certain extent without causing damage to those around him, so for it to be used and remain harmless it would have to be at a low rate just enough to somewhat confuse peoples image of him, but he would still have to play his part in all of this and that is to be somewhat geeky/ reserved/ shy etc.

This is just a concept in which we can keep the classic version and yet make it plausible within the show.

And also, that would just be the FIRST season consisting of 13 episode from birth to school to college to traveling around the world to SUPERMAN. In which I basically envisioned dedicating entire episodes to specific aspects. Like him traveling around the world, and a whole episode on just HOW he made that suit, ( and I have my ideas about that as well) So that by the end of the first season no one would ever question how he made that suit, or how he got by all these years without being exposed and so on.
Season 2 would be the glasses thing, meeting the Daily Planet gang, , in which I wouldn't even team him up with Lois at all to begin with.
A whole episode dealing on Lex luther and his childhood boy to man, and specifically show WHY he's Supermans arch nemesis in clear and vivid detail to the point when they finally meet it sends chills down your spine and people actually wonder if Superman can ever defeat him. Because in my version of the story Lex is like just a notch or two below Batman in terms of Intelligence and not quite up there physically but damn strong and fit.

It looks cool, but strays too far away from the original. It no longer looks like an alien garb, but a high-tech Supersuit.
