Meh...a lot of that 'fan freakout' reaction seemed taken out of context from what Goyer was saying. It's obvious he was talking about contextual relevance.

People dissect what Goyer says way too much. Not like Arad or Lee haven't said twice the off-the-wall stuff. I personally like Goyer; the guy's punk rock as hell and doesn't give a s**t. Haha

Heh. Pretty much how I interpret hyperbolic Goyer "criticisms"

@ Sharkboy

That's great to hear! I haven't had a chance to read it yet but I'm looking forward to it. Does anyone know if or when a hardcover or paperback edition will be released?

Me too. The 'Fatman on Batman' ones are the most fun in my opinion.

I've actually listened to the commentaries he did for Batman, Batman Returns and Batman Forever whilst watching the movies. It was awesome.

I loved his Batman Forever commentary.

Crass? definitely, *****ey? the guy is quite possibly one of the more humble and self deprecating individuals I've ever had the pleasure of listening to, sure he does flip flop his opinion a little at times, but I've never heard so much love for a character been display than what he does in his fatman on batman podcast.

You know, funnily enough i kind of enjoyed it (as much as i can enjoy Johns work) it didn't make me gag as quickly as the origin arc. I will give it to him though, he certainly knows how to write Lex Luthor.

He and his various partners on the podcats combine to give off that persona in my mind. For example, weather you like or hate bieber, they are saying some pretty *****ey things about the kid and the kids driven canadian fanbase of. Its' just pop culture commentary and fun, not at all indicative of how they actually feel about the material or the fans but rather meant to engage and entertain their listeners. That's what happens on mature rated podcasts. Ergo my perception of the double standard. I find myself wondering what would happen if goyer guest starred on the pod cast.

FOREVER EVILLLL
I think the Johns does well received work when he tackles these characters individually, I personally like his blue collared honorable flash rogues, but when he does his superhero the team up events...I can't.

-From the first and only line of dialogue from Two Face, something along the lines of "I'm of two minds about this":whatever: I'm just not used to these bat characters being little more than their 'gimmick'.

-To batman being rendered a useless panic in the face of the nightwing situation(where's morrison when you need him)
-To batman then threatening luthors life (for trying to help in his own way). I mean if batman were to ever threaten someone's life for real like that, why not it be someone who's earned the character assassination such as joker finally driving batman to the end....noooo Luthor cause this book is all about super luthor showing how useless everyone in the dcu is at what they are known to do.
-Then luthor makes his way to the next battle field(the man is everywhere) saves the day for everyone else is useless. Man I'm starting to see what people hate about the batgod.

-Then back to batman, Luthor pick his pockets....batman really? I guess like when batman slipped the ring off of lantern, Bruce just wasn't concentrating...:o
-Ending with the big secret identity reveal...

I also don't like when the action in these books is a bunch of heroes do a splash page of fighting in some venue then move to the next venue and do some more group fighting splash pages then back to hq and do some splash pages of them talking. I wasn't a fan when bendis did this in his avengers(Secret Invasion in particular) and I'm not a fan now. Hard to explain but I'm hyper sensitive to it. Perhaps that's an artist issue.

Not a fan of that story. Then again I didn't dig JLWAR either.
Is that stating you've never seen a Jay & Silent Bob film??

No, I've seen bits and pieces and I've seen them in Dogma. I can't imagine their dedicated features are all that different. Though in truth I was actually thinking about the clerks movie when I said that.

I don't actually read the current comic, but i did manage to read most of forever evil and the follow up in JL 30, [blackout]basically Lex Luthor has replaced Superman as a member of the JL. Yeah.[/blackout]
That sounds both interesting and stupid

Oh...ok. To each their own, but to me Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back is the best fan service and who's-who of comic & sci-fi culture. I could watch that movie indefinitely; his subtle comedy is priceless with the Silent Bob mannerisms.

If you got a movie where Ben Affleck and Matt Damon make Good Will Hunting 2, Carrie Fisher as a nun, and Mark Hamill and Paul Dini are in the same scene together among other things, you've won me over. :woot:

If Superman has been replaced in JL DC comics by Luthor then why would Superman have to be in the JL film? Just saying. Sounds like DC is really backburning Superman so could WB do the same in JL film?

I certainly hope they wouldn't go THAT far advertising their comics

Superman Unchained is in the top 5 every month it's out.

Only reason it's getting cancelled is because Jim Lee can't keep up with his art.

Would like to see Action sell more and better.

Superman will definitely be in the Justice League movie.

Stop this nonsense please.

They will replace Superman with Steel in JL who will be played by Shaq again.

If you think Lex Luthor is going to ride out Superman's spot in the JL for 2 whole years in the comics as if they are trying to quietly say they are going to do the same with this cenamatic version of this JL that won't be coming out for another 3 years ontop of it then I suggest you stop 'just saying'. There's no backburning Superman going on here.

do you really think Lex will take Superman's place in the JL comics long term?

they're going to "kill off" Wolverine in the comics this fall or whatever. They even "assured" us it's for real.

Do you really think they're going to keep Wolverine out of the future X-Men films ( including his next solo film ) because he's dead in the comics? Do you really think Wolverine's even going to stay dead?

why are you so quick to dismiss Superman's involvement in the future DC films?

Jesse Lex will lead the JL. He will tell Batfleck, Aquamomoa, Wonder Gal, and Rayborg what to do. They are his *****es.

Why don't they continue Unchained with another top notch creator? The other titles are not selling too well. DC should leverage what Lee has Done here IMO.

And is Superman permanelty out of JL in the comics?

They can set up the Injustice Gang for the JL sequel.

Lex Luthor: Jesse Eisenberg
Black Adam: Dwayne Johnson
Metallo: Callan Mulvey

except for, say, Uncle Ben dying, nothing is permanent in comics. :cwink:
