Hal Jordan should be one of the most desirable roles in Hollywood, there are very few slots open for superhero roles, most of the big ones have already been taken. Flash and Green Lantern are the biggest names that haven't been cast. I think they'll be going for bigger names for Hal and Barry.

A Hal Jordan franchise with a great actor like McConaughey is too awesome to imagine. I can totally see him taking a superhero role, and i definitely think Hal would be best suited to his talents. McConaughey is good at playing heroes and villains, but i've most enjoyed him in his heroic roles.

I think his best performances were in Mud and True Detective. Hal Jordan is definitely within his range, and i think the character would mix really well with his onscreen personality. People keep saying McConaughey would be better as a villain, and while he would be good, i've always enjoyed him more in his heroic roles.

Too awesome for Hal... nah. GL should be the most desirable superhero role out there. It's been said a million times, but a Blackest Night film series done well would be the next Star Wars. The basic story outline is already laid out.

If Constantine was from Texas instead of England, MM would be perfect for him.

Gosling was my top pick too. Pratt would have been awesome.

You dont like Paul in general or just for Flash? In general, i would say you're off your rocker. For Flash only, i would once again ask you why, since he would more than fit the bill. He would just need to tone up a little and height is not an issue.

Just for Flash.

Hal got his ass kicked to Robin.

Hal is a *****e.

MM is one of the coolest mutha****ers.

Honestly how familiar are you with Hal Jordan and Green Lantern in general?

Some interpretations play up his cocky side to the extreme (I'm looking at you, Justice League War) but if you were familiar with Hal Jordan, you would know that he's not a *****e.

People that hate Hal Jordan generally aren't that familiar with the mythology. The Justice League animated series messed things up and confused everybody, but when you actually look at the Green Lantern storyline outside of Justice League TAS, you realize that Hal is at the very center of everything, and John Stewart is a supporting character. Just like Batman and Superman movies have borrowed heavily from the comics, they should do the same for Green Lantern, and the basic storyline for a movie series has already been laid out, and this story features Hal Jordan as the lead character.

Matthew McConaughey is also well known for playing cocky "*****ey" characters, so suggesting that McConaughey is too cool for Hal Jordan doesn't make sense. He's played far *****ier characters than Hal Jordan.

I don't want MM playing a character who got his ass kicked multiple times by Robin.

I'm not a Half fan. I like Kilowog, John, Guy, Kyle but I never liked Hal.

If we were to get McConaughey for GL, I can't even imagine....that would be a home run for DC/WB.

I laugh everytime now because it's so poorly written as a death scene. A) Clark doesn't save his dad because he told him not to? Any son would just go ahead and save him anyway B) Clark could have easily saved the dog and flew into the cornfield where nobody could see them so Pa's choice was ******ed C) i love dogs but you're going to risk your life for a dog during a tornado? again..dumb D) what kind of dog would seem scared to leave a friggin death car like that with a tornado about to destroy it? Any normal dog would flee the scene as soon as Jonathan opens the door to let him out. It was all done in post, that's why the dogs barking at Costner and hesitates in the car. He's not used to Costner obviously.

Everything about that scene was so unnatural and stupid. There's no way i would get tears from it. The only scene that could have made me teary eyed was the scene at the end where Jonathan sees his son pretending to be a hero. That was a truly warm scene, and if isolated, it may make me emotional but ive never tried watching it as a clip on its own. But in the context of the movie, i dont feel too much when it occurs because im already exhausted and numb from the repetitive fighting in the 3rd act.

Actually, there may be one scene that ALMOST made me tear up, and that was when Jor-El and especially Lara are sending Kal-El off. That almost does it each time i watch it.

because you're looking at it through the eyes of someone who watches these movies/reads comic books.

time and again during the movie, pa kent was afraid for clark. afraid of the what the world would do. afraid of what clark could become. good or bad, clark was going to change the world. he sacrificed himself because he knew clark wasn't ready to get exposed like that. he was still a snotty teen who 5 minutes ago was arguing with his dad about not wanting to grow up and be a farmer. pa kent sacrificing was the right thing to do FOR clark. it made clark the man he became.

I don't get John Stewart fans, it's like how do you even make a franchise around that? John works as a supporting character, that's why he worked on JL TAS. John should be a supporting character in a GL solo. The Hal Jordan story is already laid out, ripe for film adaptation.

The GL of the JL should be the lead of a GL reboot franchise. So Hal really is the only choice for the JL's Green Lantern.

Do you guys think that Flash and GL are already cast? Wasn't the delay in the release due to WB needing more time to sign actors for multiple picture contracts?

I do.

elmayimbe isn't always right, but a while ago he was saying that Ryan Gosling was considering a superhero role that he had been offered.

Ryan Gosling had discussions with WB about Batman, and he has talked about The Flash in the past.

Ryan Gosling turned down Batman because of the multiple sequels he would have to do.

I don't think there are going to be solo Flash movies, so signing for Flash would be a lot less commitment than signing on for Batman.

Ryan Gosling isn't impossible. His name keeps coming up for DC's superhero projects... Ben Affleck's name kept popping up related to DC stuff before he was cast as Batman. He was considered as the director for MOS and Justice League.

Eh maybe said Cranston was gonna be Lex, Bale was back as Batman, Nolan was the DC Godfather, Driver was Nightwing.....

I agree with you. At first I loved this movie and more and more I've thought about it the more and more I realized how flawed it really was. Don't get me wrong I still like the film but it could be way better.

The Tornado scene was one of those scenes that bothered me the most through out the whole film. It just didn't feel right. Clark even before the comic would have done something regardless of his fathers feelings. The comics have always eluded to the fact that though he wasn't contently using his powers to save lives while growing up he did us them to do good while in smallville.

I hated the way they did Zod. In the comic Zod is a great rival for Superman. While he may not have as much control of his powers he is a great strategist and a great warrior. Yet in the movie he was weak and was constantly getting his butt kicked. He was all hot air and couldn't back anything up. Faora put up a much better fight then he did and made a much better villain then Zod did.

I heard people here say how bad and scary the villains are going to be. Yet I found Loki to be more frighting then I found Zod.

You want a good scary villain you need a villain that doesn't just come in and do a lot of trash talking and then just get his butt handed to him through out the film. You need a villain that just goes to town on the hero and beats him down physically, emotionally and mentally. You need to make the hero work for the victory.

I felt that Zod was a weak and pathetic villain which is far from the case in the comic book. If this is the sort of villains we can expect from WB then there movies are going to be lame.

That is a horrible actor for Hal. Matthew McConaughey is a great guy and great actor but I flat out don't see him as Hal Jordan. It some how doesn't feel right.

This got me thinking who could play the role. Who could bring that charm and humor but still be able to play those serious elements too. I came up with the right person. I think Mark-Paul Gosselaar would be perfect. He got the right build. He can nail the humor and charm down but also play the serious side of Hal Jordan as well.
