I agree. I did not care for Hammer in The Lone Ranger because I thought he played the character too goofy, but I think that would work well for Shazam, who is sort of a manchild.

Good choice. I really like Hammer, he comes across as super charming and witty in interviews. In fact, I keep imagining how he would have done as Supes.
 
Hammer has innocence and likability which is essential (besides height and physique) for Captain Marvel.

In some ways Capt. Marvel is polar opposite of Black Adam -

Black Adam:

Old and experienced, cynical, has a big ego and is villainous.

Captain Marvel:
Young and inexperienced, innocent, is selfless and is heroic.

I can't see Mangianello (or however you spell his name) as Shazam. Whether with or without a beard the dude just looks too feral to be Captain Marvel.

As a big fan of Jae Lee's work, they nailed it. His style may not be for everyone but they still did a good job. I love the cape designs on Batman and Superman.
 
I see that "feral" is now in the Hype's vernacular. Insert Points gif for me.

I think they look bad honestly- especially Superman! What happen there?! I'm sure others may like them, and to each their own, but for me they just look odd.

I think Batman and Wonder Woman are great. Superman does look odd but it's Jae's style.

I'd agree that WW looks pretty good, but even Batman...it just looks like the face and muscles are painted on, not sculpted. I love a good sculpted figure, but these just don't do it for me.

It's quite the opposite for me. I think they look great and different, which is exactly a figure sculpted after Jae Lee should look like. Lee's art captivates me in every way possible and I love the overall look of these new figures for sure. I've got away from figures (mainly a statue guy) when it comes to my collection. I only collect the figures that are high scale sculpt and just the ones that stick out and these do it for me.

Yea I don't have many figures. Got a New 52 Martian Manhunter figure & Marvel Select Spidey but I love Jae's art. I loved the first arc to Batman/Superman. So amazing and brilliant and just different. Earth New 52 Bats and Supers (who are young) facing the Earth 2 Bats and Supers who are older. It's like if you had the first JJ Star Trek with his Spock (forgot the actor's name at the moment) and Pine's Kirk in Shatner and Leonard's Kirk and Spock's world.

Alot of eyes will be upon Affleck's performance in BvS. I just hope the story Terrio wrote is layered but I'm sure there will things that are in the script that make the audience pause. Hopefully those wont be major things though.

I would be surprised if Affleck/Batman doesnt carry the movie. He is after all one of the biggest stars in the film. But alot will depend on how well the movie introduces the various plot threads, and the other superheroes. I would like it to feel more natural, not forced and jarring, much like Man of Steel was in so many scenes. Especially since so much is riding upon the success of this movie. It will also be curious as to how the movie wraps its story, if its open-ended and whether Affleck is coming back in future movies?

Wouldnt it be great if we saw a Best Picture nom for BvS in 2017? Don't see a realistic chance of that, but it sure would be an interesting twist :woot:
