I think it's safe to say everyone (from the fans to the general audience) wouldn't mind losing this tired parallel.

I think we should move away from the Jesus stuff and start doing Job allegories.

True. So even if they kill him off in some form and he rises, it will just invite more parallels.

I have an idea for the promotion of this movie. Because Batman is getting more hype than Superman, they just ride that on out and have the first teaser and previews about Batman and his perspective. Maybe the trailer even portrays Superman as possibly being the bad guy.
As the release date gets closer, they release another teaser from Superman's perspective, that shows the other side to the story and fills in some of the questions. The final trailer could show everyone together, and fans start thinking, "oh man, who IS the bad guy in this fight?"
Queue merchandising from all the big vendors with "VS" packaging. Cool Ranch Doritos is Batman, Nacho Cheese is Superman. Bam.

Yeah, if anything... I'd say that Flash and Green Lantern are the top candidates for characters that could be killed off for good during the time span of this franchise due to how there are other well known characters who have carried on their respective titles and mantles in the comics (Wally, Jon Stewart, etc)
I was going to suggest those 2 for the same reasons. I think it's the rare case where a comic film major death in an ongoing franchise can work. I say only kill characters who will permanently stay dead or rather than creating dramatic tension you remove the illusion that permanent death is possible for any character.

Since many MOS fans get angry about Superman being portrayed badly, I think WB would be playing with fire by having the first teaser showcase Superman as possibly being the bad guy.

Dude's a secular messiah... He just is. The Jesus stuff would be there in the mix even if no one ever pointed out the obvious mythical parallels.

Death to the Jesus stuff. It doesn't enhance the story or superman's character at all.

I agree they need to ****e out the whole VS thing.

That will be a great marketing opportunity and the difference with those Vs horror films is that people will actually care about this one. ;) I can imagine it being very popular with kids too if done right having to choose which side they're on.

I think it would be great if it appealed to kids, but then I think alot will depend on how the movie is marketed, and what kind of tone they go for. But for me the big question is whether audiences will respect the movie. After all, you might get a huge box office, but respect is another thing entirely.

If they ge a huge box office hey wont care about respect.

Welcome back :yay:

We've missed your sobering voice of reason around here.

Before you know it....Snyder will reveal a release date of 2018 for "Justice League" at the Summer 2016 comic con....only for it to be later revealed that Justice League has been pushed back for a 2019 release date

Depending on how BvS fares and what happens behind the scenes, that could happen. Its all about positioning the movie for the best overall reception.

Flash tomorrow. i can't wait!

And Arrow Wednesday! :D

And coming soon...

Constantine looks interesting, but its all about gaining momentum. Something I felt the latest episode of Gotham lacked; which is surprising considering how solid the first two episodes were.

The figures look horrible in my opinion. Probably WW is the pick of a bad bunch.

If you aren't familiar with Jae's art and style, you probably won't like them. Personally I love them. They look even better then the Capullo. They look like they are off the pages of the comics.

Love Superman's cape.

That first arc was awesome. The middle arcs were kind of so-so but now the new arc in Batman/Superman picks up where they left off from that first arc so that book, for me right now, is a must buy. Jae Lee's art is the type that could make me a follower of just an artist no matter what book. The Batman/Superman book has been beautiful to look at for me.

Yea I remember as a kid when they had Batman/Superman comics and I would pick them up. I was really excited when DC announced they were bringing it back in the New 52. First arc was just brilliant and so different then how anyone who do the first meeting of Batman and Superman.

I've read the comic. When it began I thought it was interesting, but I think in hindsight it was the novelty of the art, and that over time that same novelty wore thin. As for the figures, any Superman figure with a v-neck collar I tend to avoid - the only one I bought was the new 52 version and even that I rarely look at. I like the older costume, the new 52 version just feels like a temporary try-out by DC.
