This was one of those golden moments that made me embarrassed...for the movie.

Edit: Whatever one thinks of SM 3, Tobey was great in it !

That's the only scene in the movie that everybody else hates, but I'm able to find perverse enjoyment out of it.

I don't even like GOTG but even I'll will say that there's a huge difference in what Gunn did with Quill shaking his booty at the start of his film and what Sam did with that sequence in S-M3. One works like gangbusters and establishes the lead character, but also the tone the audience will witness for the remaining runtime, not the mention Pratt nails the moment. The other is just off putting, ham fisted, and frankly, Tobey was awful through it all, like the performance doesn't even feel right. It was one of the many tin eared moves Raimi made in the movie. I however, like you TNN don't go ape when S-M3 is mentioned. I put S-M3, GL and TDKR (yep... Come at me bromeisters ) into the same category. Messy, mediocre films that never quite come together, and have stupid moments, BUT... They aren't the worse things ever made either, and the passion they invoke on forums is not indicative of how most people see them. which I think is that they are all just kinda "meh". Not so terrible to be truly "bad" films, but pretty much also, not "good".

As stated, I am not a fan of the film. But stating that, the scene that kicks off the film works and it works very well. To the point it raised my hopes about what I was about to see. Sadly... Eh. I'll let you decide if you ever get around to seeing it. I also don't think GOTG was anything other than so by the numbers that of course it resonated with the audience. It didn't challenge one notion or do anything we haven't seen before. It was like cinema comfort food. Nothing wrong with that, I suppose. I just expected fewer people to proclaim it's brilliance, or at least to point out how every sin they feel other films in and out the genre commit is done to death in GOTG.

And... I'll shut it now, since this is the BvS all things thread.

People need to get over 3 seconds of bad dancing. SM3 was a decent flick.

It's more than just dancing.

There were massive cuts to SM3 (I'm talking Promethus, Man of Steel level cuts, if not moreso). Cuts the eliminated some very good material, and left the film a watered-down, substance-less version of what it could've and should've been.

The worst of it all being Eddie Brock, whom (in Raimi's vision) was a much more crazed, delusional, and psychopathic character, compared to the wimpy, quasi Peter clone we got in the final version. And the things cut would've made things like him asking God to kill Peter make more sense for that character (rather than coming off extremely awkward and out of place).

Later on today, there are going to be more reveals at NYCC. Who/what else could be revealed? Between playable Kevin Smith, Ace the Bat Hound, Blue Lanterns, Detective Chimp, 60s Batman, TDK Trilogy/MOS DLC packs among many, many other things this is going to be an instant first day purchase.

GoTG is absolutely awesome. I went into it knowing nothing about the characters. never read the books. but came away with a huge grin on my face.

Man of Steel: Superman unintentionally brings Zod to Earth. They fight, stuff is destroyed, some people get pissed.
Batman v Superman: Something bad happens and Superman saves the day. Problem solved.
Justice League: Superman unintentionally brings Brainiac to Earth.

The villain should just show up, imo. Like he's been traveling through the galaxy, conquering/destroying/collecting planets and civilizations. When he comes to Earth, he finds the Justice League. "I didn't see that coming", says the villain.
