Andor General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

Is that the mother ****in TIE Avenger!!!! Or the TIE Advanced from the TIE Fighter series. Dear god, first the E-wing and now the Avenger, just bringing back all the odd ships from the old EU.

Hype!
Never imagined Steve Earle Music with Star Wars, and even more surprising, enjoying the perfectly anachronistic fit. Yet here we are.
The Revolution Starts Now! :D

Who called Andor to be saving Star Wars.

So, taking the Arcane approach to their release schedule this time around, huh?

On the one hand, It’ll be nice having each set of episodes in one chapter together to watch all at once. One complaint I saw from some viewers about season one was that episodes felt incomplete because they were part of a certain story arc and needed to wait for another two weeks in order to finish it. Some felt either a little discouraged or just waited until each arc or the entire season was released so they could just watch it all at once. I don’t agree with the sentiment, but I understand how some people might’ve felt that way.

On the other hand, I’m going to miss the weekly episode by episode discourse that we had with season one that made the viewing experience so exciting and engaging, wondering what was going to happen and how everything was going to play out.

I wonder if this was the showrunner’s decision or if this is just Disney/Lucasfilm sort of slightly giving it the short shrift because it’s their most well received and most quality project, with a pretty diverse cast headed by a Latino lead and a very left-wing bent to its political satire no less, don’t want to admit that a lot of the projects fail or don’t do as well critically is due to poor creatives and doing the bare minimum to be progressive and not because of DEI or “messages”, and they just want to get it out the door so they can move onto making more safe, consumable slop for the masses.

Loved the trailer but the S1 reviews they peppered all over it were distracting and unnecessary. Loved the music choice though.

That's a really confident trailer. Can't wait!

Makes sense with the time jumps in-between Chapters.

I wonder if this was the showrunner’s decision or if this is just Disney/Lucasfilm sort of slightly giving it the short shrift (...)
That's an easy one to answer. It's for the Nielsen ratings. It's The Acolyte falling off the charts, Bad Batch S3, and Skeleton Crew not even charting. They are releasing blocks of 3 episodes because that increased amount of minutes will amplify public and investor perception of the show's popularity. Disney+ needs a bit hit desperately.

It's something that we're seeing across the industry right now.

I think the footage itself looks great but that was a really badly cut trailer.

It didn’t feel like Star Wars, or more importantly, Andor lol

I get it though, they’re trying to get anybody who wasn’t interested in watching it. Thus the critic reviews and choice of music. Making it seem like some cool romp which isn’t really the tone of this series.

Looking forward to an actual trailer, I’m sure sometime in March.

Yeah the music was an awkward attempt to attract those without the attention span for S1 :funny:
Not really prevalent to the actual show.

If anything I'm more concerned with the quick time-jumps, the excellent methodical pacing of S1, will now instead be rushed.
Though I have absolute faith in Gilroy's ability to tell good character driven story.

Guessing that is Bix?
She needs some coldly served revenge, after what they did to her.

No accident, fine-line between Rebels^ vTerrorist

Although with Luna & Arjona teamed-up, my latino side instantly went here.:cwink:

Are these Troopers caught sans helmets, or Rebels infiltrating a garrison?

Andor appears to be in the same hall as them?

More jarring then the music for me, is his whole Count of Montecristo look.:cwink:

Though dude, is a spy, all about fitting in where he doesn't belong.
Or Luthen arranged for some of that Mothma Champaign-Rebel flow, to finally come his way.
Ever since his first scene, this guy has easily become one of my favorite, and most intriguing SW characters.

This is why I don't get it when I see some people say this show isn't Star Wars, or doesn't feel like Star Wars. Rebellion and going up against the evil empire is EXACTLY what Star Wars is all about.

Looks like besides stealing and re-programming KX Droids from the Empire, he's also stealing their New Experimental TIEs
Yet another look for Andor.
Sienar? "Test Pilot"
If he's impersonating a Test Pilot I'm guessing that is some unique (likely one of a kind) experimental TIE he steals.
According to the experts a TIE Avenger.

If you grew up in the 80s, the movie you are right now struggling to remember, was called FireFox with Clint Eastwood.

I'm very curious what the fourth story is. I feel like I've not been able to discernibly notice a fourth arc in the footage. I imagine there's some in there, just can't pick it out. There's the TIE Factory, Ghorman Massacre, and Mon Mothma Extraction (don't know if it's technically noticeable without some background info so I'm censoring it) from the looks of it, and I assume things like the Saw footage are interspersed like last time but maybe that's the fourth. I dunno. I'm intrigued.

Ok seeing them together again, is pure joy.'

I'm guessing Andor transfers B2 into K2 to either infiltrate a base, or to save him (if he's been damaged), then once he's in the new body, he doesn't want to go back in the red "box".:funny:

Also Partisans: Elwood & Jake? Mario & Luigi? Edrio & Jkigi?
AKA The 2 Two-Tube Bros.,,,

and Moroff are back !

Looks like Andor is prepping to sniper someone from some lavish apartment building.
Crazy if it's someone at Mothma's shinding or in her circle.
This character has always operated in some gray areas, done things that have haunted him to his final moment.

Not just any experimental TIE, but the freaking TIE Avenger, aka TIE Advanced from TIE Fighter. I love seeing that polygonal beauty made reality. Just as an interesting glup ****to, I do wonder where the Avenger program is related to Thrawn's Defender program. I don't expect them acknowledge it though.

A quick peek at Cassian's opening scene in Rogue One, it sounds like he is looking for information on Jedha and Kyber crystals. Which given some of Luthen's expertise, may be where he bites it. I assume a lot of Krennics stuff is in the last part, since Cassian does know Galen Urso.

According to Gilroy:
“I mean, we have to end up in Yavin, right? So, we’ll tell the story of Yavin. No-one has quite dealt with Yavin the way we will be doing it."- Gilroy
Likely more than just the fact that it is the base, but showing how it came to be that, if there is a story there.

Besides having a personal connection to the temples at Tikal Guatemala; their consequential use in SW always fascinated me. I know there were some loose legends canon explorations, yet always wanted a further in-universe look at Yavin in live-action.
Particularly if Lucas had in mind any backstory for it, considering some of the more peculiar McQuarrie concepts. Especially that last one...

Though I'm kind of blown away by this artists edit, my whole life I saw a Cthulhu like alien skull there, now I can't unsee a couple of robed figures, observing a planet?

Curious what Gilroy and co, have in mind as far as "the story of Yavin" any of it's past, and of course how the Rebels came to settle there.

And I'm not sure at what point they are introducing K2? Yet I'm inclined to believe it is something being saved for the final chapter.
Either Andor transfers B2 into a defunct or captured K2 to infiltrate a base, or some last ditch attempt to save him (if he's been damaged), then once B2 is in the new body, he doesn't want to go back in the red "box" :funny:
Just speculation of course, yet there is something to be said about a guy whose circumstances and own fading humanity are so grim looking, as he becomes little more than a killing machine himself, he ends up having to transfer what's essentially his only friend and connection to his past, into an enemy's assassin droid.
Part of why I love these characters.
Either way, the highly anticipated reunion (however it plays out) is likely something they are saving.
9md8rx.gif

And possibly the biggest most impactful event they are keeping for chapter four -
"I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know i’ll never see."
His final moment has already been telegraphed, yet they are likely holding it closest, hence fewest hints of it in the trailers.
Just random speculation.

We do see Dantooine, which was the rebel base before Yavin.
