The Dark Knight Rises Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman XI

They're these makeshift metallic looking things sticking out of a boot-like wear. It's so obvious they're using it for logistics and it will be removed by CGI once in the movie.
What makes you so sure? The only thing that is obvious is those are stilettos, which has been prevalent in Catwoman's imagery for quite some time. I see nothing practical about them.

With that said, nothing would make me more furious if he decided to keep these in, but not the cowl.

Hopefully that happens so I can enjoy the rans on July 20 11 . Make sure I will have the popcorn:awesome:

Are you... being sarcastic right now?

No I am not. If you bother reading my explanation you will know that I am serious. But fine, I'll reinstate my point.

1) Nolan will not trust an actor to drive the Batpod. It's 100% certain that Hathaway won't and she'll be dragged by the SUV for the close-up and pretend to be riding the batpod.

2) Look at the accelerator.

It's a cylinder-like shape object. There is space above and below it for something to rest on without stepping on it. So clearly that's what the heel is for, it'll be rested on the plate behind the accelerator, with the tip of her feet in the same position. The gap of the heels is where the accelerator is at– they obviously don't want her touching it since they don't want a wrecked batpod.

3) As for the still with the heel-like shadow, it's not 100% certain that it's even there. It's obviously missing from the shot. It could also be an editing mistake they overlooked since it was obvious that they released it relatively in a hurry.

Maybe Catwoman is gonna ditch those high heels for some silver and black Nike shoe, kinda like the new Spiderman Nikes he's wearing in the new ASM.

By next year, I bet Tumbler and Livejournal will be all over the Team Selina/Bruce and Team Talia/Bruce ships. And of course the inevitable Team Bane/Batman ship. :oldrazz:

I was planning on shipping Gordon/Blake myself...:woot: :oldrazz:

Really, really not happy about those heels. I thought Nolan wouldn't go in that direction and women wearing those ridiculous things in action movies is a big pet-hate of mine.

I have to disagree with you on all points here...

1. You're right that Nolan wouldn't let an actor drive the Batpod. That's why the stuntwoman is driving it wearing boots. Why on earth would the real actor in a hero costume for close-up shots wear such different shoes?

2. You are also right that she will be on the Batpod, being dragged behind the camera by another vehicle. Which is why it doesn't matter if her boot hits the accelerator at all. She's not going anywhere. Her vehicle will be attached to another vehicle. The Batpod may even be in "neutral" as well.

3. If they're releasing a still photograph of a main character in their full costume, they're not going to photoshop different shoes on. They would just put her in the official hero boots. There is obviously a heel shadow on the image, as well as all of the spy-shots of Anne in costume she's wearing heels...

Not a fan of it either. And it's not like she needs it to make her look taller or sexier because Anne is pretty tall and she looks sexy as it is with the suit. I don't get the necessity of the heels.

Hmm. The heels looks good and sexy but seems very impractical. A very un-Nolan like choice.

Same here, I was expecting something very lightweight and flexible looking along the lines of dancing shoes or something, wasn't really feeling the thigh high boots or gloves before yet I was willing to just accept it and move on until I saw those big ass heels. I guess I'll just have to wait to see if this is the final costume or not.

Dear God!

Is that all you people do but TRY to find things wrong?!?

Im a big Batman fan, but c'mon! First it was the cowl, now the footwear/heels?

This is NOLAN'S Catwoman. Sure if we where making the movie, hell if I was making the movie I would have her exactly like Adam Hughes' version but I am not.

Julie Newmar had heels, silly ears and eyebrows and a medallion.
Michelle Pfeiffer had heels, and looked like a gimp with a whip.
Halle Berry had heels, ripped up costume and diamond claws.
Anne Hathaway(so far) has heels, and a high-tech costume/goggles

so far there are only 3 things that every live action catwoman has had(so far) and that is heels, dark/black costume and ears. Anne has heels and the coatume, and so far dosnt have ears. SO FAR.

I trust Nolan. We have had two AMAZING batman films. This will be one too.

Which is why those stilettos are an odd choice. Specially if she's running on rooftops or doing something close to that.
Seriously. Even models sometimes have trouble walking down fashion runways in tall skinny stilettos, and they do that for a living. :funny:

I wouldn't worry about riding a bike with them on. I would worry about fighting and doing acrobatic like stunts though.
One plus, if she kicks someone in the face with them, we could get our own pencil trick in TDKR. :o

maybe the heels are retractable? *shrug*
Not possible, you'd have to completely change the shape of the sole, and the sole is hard.

Seriously. At least she isn't sporting DD cleavage, though. That's an even bigger pet-peeve of mine. :funny:

Not happy about those heels partly because I already bought short wedge heels for my Catwoman costume. :o But I hate hate hate stilettos and wouldn't be wearing them anyway, so it probably would have been the same outcome. :oldrazz:

Maybe she's coming directly from work. ;)
Good point. :funny:

1) Like I said, they can easily remove and enhance the scene once in post-production. There is also the possibility that the scene they're just trying to capture a front shot, since they need Anne's face more than anything else.

2) You do realize that she could still potentially wreck the batpod attached or not. The attachment might break, other things can happen– why on earth do they want to take the risk?

3) Unless I missed out, I didn't see Anne in other spypics where she's wearing heels apart from this scene. Also, the 'heel' caught in the still is of a different color from what she's caught wearing for the candid. Why did it turn from black to a metallic gray?

My reasons for the heel in the shot is exactly the same for the one used here.

So ridiculously-impractical high-heels are okay, but cat ears are not?

Alrighty then .

Haha, yeah.

In every shot of Catwoman's feet, they're going to go in and CGI her shoes to be full on boots, instead of high heels.

Definately.

Where was Anne caught on set with heels? Where else apart from this shot? I really want to know.

This is the first time we've seen Hathaway on set in costume .

Can't say I like the high heels. Especially since one of the things I originally commended the costume for was its bucking the trend and having the sexy heroine wear sensible footwear.

If any other sane person has followed me in here, don't look up - FLEE, FLEE FOR YOUR LIFE.

I understand that she could potentially damage the Batpod, but I think you're just missing the concept that everyone else on these boards is getting at here, that it makes so much less sense for someone to be driving a vehicle like that in heels than it would be to drive in boots. Which is why I think the heels are very likely a part of the costume, because she's not doing any stunts, she's behind the wheel of a motorcycle that is probably not even running, wearing her final costume.

And if you're a filmmaker, you're not going to waste time and money having a visual effects team erase high heels in post production so that it looks like she's wearing a regular boot. Just wear a regular boot. If they're concerned that she'll hit the accelerator, they can build (and probably have built) a Batpod that doesn't run. When you see actors carrying a gun, it doesn't mean it's a real gun. Most of the time it's made of rubber.

Finally, I agree that the heel looks darker in the official still, and not metallic or shiny, but it's just in a shadow.

And apart from that one image of her on set, wearing heels, there's video of her on set, wearing heels...

Worst thing about the heels is they steal the thunder from seeing first pic of Hathaway in costume on set.

She looks tiiiiiiiiiight.
