Interesting enough, I also got a Mister Freeze vibe due to his motivations; i.e. committing thefts in order to help treat a loved one who is ill. I think the comparison was deliberate, as MacGregor's Syndrome (Tockman's illness) shares a name with the illness that affects Mister Freeze's wife in the Batman & Robin movie.
True, they just executed it MUCH BETTER here than in that agonizingly painful cinematic kick in the balls.

I heard someone once put it this way; even Joel Schumacher couldn't deny the sheer beauty of a sick woman frozen in ice. Unfortunately, that was the only stab at pathos and sincerity in the entire movie. And the hilarious/horrific part is that Arnold's clearly the best part of the movie; he's the only one comfortable with the stuff he's given, and he knows what he should do with it.

And looking over episode 18 again, I've got a feeling the Deathstroke title's going to have multiple meanings. Slade will probably proclaim himself Deathstroke on the island and make a serious move in costume in the episode, but I'm also betting someone else on the show gets a "death-stroke." If Moira, Sara, Walter, Laurel, or anyone else is going to die this season, this is the episode for it. And we've got Slade's alter ego in the title and Malcolm Merlin returning in the same episode...

Have they confirmed Malcolm's coming back for Episode 18? Or is that fan speculation? I've been looking for any articles or posts from cast/crew on the show that tell he's coming back, but haven't found any.

^ well he was on set during episode 18
That's all the confirmation I need.... doubt it was a 'oh, I'm just dropping by to annoy you all' visit. Or like the visit he did at Comic-Con last summer (which got cheers from the crowd).

Hmm.... suddenly I'm imagining a showdown between Merlyn and Deathstroke....

Maybe someone will caress their cat too hard and kill it.

Or Slade will invent a new swimming style.

How many episodes are there this season? On wiki it only goes up to 18. Is that all?

It's only up to 18 because that's all the episode titles we're aware of.

"Alright, kid, to teach you the death stroke, I'm going to need a shovel, a pool, and an army of certified ninjas. Now, you start by brutally killing all the ninjas with your bare hands, then grab the shovel..."

He could be teaching the death stroke in a dead pool. :oldrazz:

A picture of Oli being a badass in episode 16:

I think Episode 16 we'll see Oliver visit Tommy's grave to tell him he can't keep his promise, not with the threat that Slade poses. It'd be a way for him to begin returning to 'the Hood' persona, if only as far as Slade and his minions are concerned.

Anyone else think Slade is going to, at some point, mock Oliver for his weakness this year?

^ oh man it would be so awesome If oliver started killing again, I miss him snapping necks

I agree. The only time he's purposefully killed this season was Count Vertigo, which I found surprising since according to what I know of the comics, Vertigo and Merlyn are the ones most often identified as an arch-nemesis to Green Arrow, and Vertigo wouldn't have been as expensive as Barrowman to come in on occasion.

Given everything Slade knows (not to mention, how dangerous he is), Oliver has no real choice but to try to kill him.

Since they show him working with the Bratva again in Episode 16, I'd guess that he's doing that to get used to killing again. Maybe he's thinking of using guns over arrows in this case (which won't last, I'm sure, to the finale).
