John Stewart has a somewhat similar military background, right?

depends in the comics he was a architect or carpenter

John found new popularity on television as the primary Green Lantern in the Justice League animated series, which ran for several years on Cartoon Network. He proved so popular on the series that elements of his portrayal in the series were adapted to his character in the comics, such as his background as a U.S. Marine.

Sure, why not? I mean they helped ruin one version of Green Lantern on the Big Screen, so let's go for the next one as well.

To be fair, there were a lot of people who had bigger impacts on making the GL film suck. They didnt even have a script ready for Reynolds to audition because of all the crap WB wanted them to change. I think they could swing it differently this time, if not for the only reason that they have already made mistakes and hopefully learned from them with this character.

John Stewart has a somewhat similar military background, right?

They're pretty similar. John Stewart has his fanbase but personally Ive always found him pretty dull compared to Rayner and Jordan. The key things that have made Stewart who he is though are shared by Diggle.

Well, IF they do end up making Diggs into "Stewart", then at least that guarantees his safety in the future since I was worried that they may kill him off in future seasons.

Heck, truth be told, Diggs interactions with Oliver are pretty much the "heart" of the show at this point.

As I said in the other thread, though, I doubt the show could last a long time with a Green Lantern character in it. The power differential would be too great. So John Diggle may survive, but making him Green Lantern could be the beginning of the end.

Yeah; he'd definitely end up being more powerful than Green Arrow or even Flash; making it almost too easy to take on most of their threats.

The moment a person can fly, throw out energy bolts, and block themselves from physical harm on this show...well, things won't be as challenging anymore.

Why not just make the villains more powerful as well? It would force Ollie to step up his game as well.

Or they could tune down the Ring abilities by really stressing the recharge period with the battery. I think theres quite a few ways to handle it.

With Flash eventually gaining the speed force and traveling through time, you don't tune down the Ring abilities. You do it right or not at all. None of these downplay shenanigans. If the Ring would ruin the show, there's a simple solution. Don't use the Ring in the first place, and let Diggle be Diggle.

You know, instead of trying to make Diggles into a "Green Lantern", if they're so fixated in finding an "excuse" to put a costume on Diggs, then why not go down the more practical approach of making him into the show's version of "Guardian":

I want them to introduce Jim Harper, Roy Harper uncle? perhaps a former Guardian. It could like Jim Harper transfer his duties to John Diggle as the "New Guardian" similar to what Young justice did

“Is John Diggle John Stewart? I cannot say “yes,” and I cannot say, “no.” I’m serious! I do know that there is serious discussion about whether or not this guy becomes John Stewart. But, I mean, I’ll say this: it is top secret. I’ve asked them – David Ramsey has asked them – and they’re like, “we’re working on some stuff.” If that’s the case, it’s gonna be huge. This is the stuff they want to avoid. I think they don’t want anybody to know yet and they haven’t even told me. But they have told me that they are thinking about it and that they are considering it. But they’re not going to release anything yet. That’s exactly what the told me. Greg Berlanti told me that. Andrew [Kreisberg] and Marc [Guggenheim] have told me that. I haven’t spoken to Geoff Johns about it. But that’s the word from people directly involved in Arrow- that they’re working on something. “Here’s the truth of it: if I knew, I would tell you I know the answer to that, but I’m not at liberty to tell you that. I would answer like that. I probably wouldn’t tell you anyway, but I would at least tell you that I know. I honestly do not know.”

I would geek out, if Dig became John Stewart the Green Lantern.

You don't keep him on Arrow, you spin him off to his Green Lantern show.

No. No, no, no. Let Diggle be Diggle.

I have said this before, but do any of you guys find something innately sexy about Laurel's character this season? I don't know, besides being really hot, I am getting a lot of "I-give-a-damn-what-people-think" attitude from her this season.
Believe me, you definitely aren't the only one. :cwink:

You don't keep him on Arrow, you spin him off to his Green Lantern show.
But Arrow just wouldn't be the same without Diggle on the show. I really don't want him to go anywhere and I hope they let him just be his own character.

I understand your sentiment Dig is a great character. However you shouldn't keep characters around because it's comforting. Every character should have a beginning and an end. If that is his endgame, as GL, then I'm all for it. I'd love to see Dig, Lyla and little Sarah living on some distant outpost trying to readjust to this new life.

If the writers did end up going in a direction that led to Diggle being associated with a Green Lantern plot, I think it's far more likely that they'd pull a "Harrison Wells" and mix the Diggle character with the John Stewart character to create a 'hybrid' Green Lantern character, as opposed to saying that John Diggle is an 'alias' for John Stewart.

by the end of the season could there be another shakeup? Roy leaving to be solo? Felicity working with Palmer? Diggle joining ARGUS? Will Oliver become solo again? I think after the events with Ra's al Ghul and LOA.....Team Arrow won't be the same

I wouldn't be surprised by Felicity leaving town, Quentin dying, Malcolm dying or evading capture, or Thea becoming a member of Team Arrow. The writers are anything but predictable, however, so I don't actually expect too many of those things coming to pass.

While I wouldn't hate Diggle become Stewart, i dont want him to. He was an original character, leave him that way, let him evolve. It would be like if they turned Harley Quinn into some version of Jokers Daughter or whoever she closely resembled.

I like Thea but i wouldn't mind if she left town or died in like season 5. I just don't see her suiting up out having any desire to. She likes her normal life.

I really wonder what threat can come after Ra's considering he's supposed to be a huge villain in DC lore.

I would love to see The Outsiders, but they might feel a little derivative after the LOA. H.I.V.E., maybe?

You know what would have been better? If they had Laurel meet Ted back in Season 2, where she would have learned to fight from him as a result of her anger issues involving Tommy's death (and thus sparing us of the Druggie Story Line)

And it would have been better if they had kept Sara alive up until this Season's Fall Finale, where she and Oliver go to confront Ra's...only for Sara to be the one stabbed in the gut by Ra's and thrown into the cliff (thus being killed off) and something happening to Oliver where it would be more believable to assume that those involved would think he's dead but believable to accept that he could have survived as well.

That way, Laurel would have had at least a year's worth of some type of training, Thea wouldn't be involved in the mess, and Sara would have gone out as a true fighter.
