I hold out hope that Ragman will get to show up. I want to see him hang out with the equally noble Flash and Supergirl.

Looks like we will be getting a Laurel wedding scene.

Looks like we will be getting a Laurel wedding scene.

It's nice to have her show up for a good 5mins but of course it would be about a wedding and not Laurel as an actual character. I'm betting it will be to Oliver.

Amell confesses that he became frustrated with last season’s creative direction. “I put my heart and soul into every day of work and every episode, but at the same time there is a lull in any relationship where you need to have a ‘come to Jesus’ moment, so to speak,” says the actor. “That happened for me in the latter half of season 4, where I feel like there were just a few things that got lost in the shuffle, so we needed to really refocus in season 5.”

It was a savvy, natural move, anyway, given Arrowverse’s expansion to four shows this season and a franchise desire to make sure that each of them had a distinct identity. “The original vision of Arrow has been augmented and changed to support and accept and help introduce various other shows, and that is a wonderful amazing opportunity. Now that that’s done, we have to do what we do well,” says Amell. “There are things that Legends and Flash and Supergirl can do, based on the sort of more fantastical nature of their shows. But there are things that we can do that none of them can. We are a street-level crime fighting show. We’re at our best when we’re focused on those things.”

I wonder what he was referring to that he did not like? The romance? The magic? The threat going from saving the city to the entire world? Or was it a mixture of all of them?

I wonder if Arrow will sit out in future crossovers and focus on street-level crimefighting stuff. I can see a semi-mega crossover involving Supergirl, Flash, and Legends by themselves.

I don't think there is anything wrong with them letting loose regarding magic and powers every now and then.

He certainly didn't end liking the magic and they have tried to blame that as part of the show going feeling off. Magic wasn't the problem, it was how they went about it. Meta's could add a lot to Arrow if they let it.

If he didn't like the romance either, then I wouldn't be surprised that he's not saying so that he's not harassed by crazy Olicity shippers.

Amell loves Olicity, I would be surprised if the romance got to him.

The magic was poorly executed last year, it wasn't a bad idea though.

Love those set shots and the photo shoot. They all look great together. Can't wait. Three weeks to go!!

Love them all rattling off their superhero names!

Wow, those were some candid comments from Amell. He straight up said the show could end if if it didnt get its act together this year (even though we all know its not true and the show's guaranteed to continue past this year). It's nice to see he's acknowledging the complaints and genuinely seems to be working to get the show back on track.

And honestly, the magic was not the problem with season 4, the first half of season 4 was GREAT stuff. It fell apart in the second half. The problem with season 4 stemmed from two main things: 1) the olicity love drama got just way too ridiculous, the episode where Felicity regains control of her legs and THE FIRST THING SHE DOES IS WALK OUT ON OLIVER was hands down the dumbest and most insulting thing the show has ever done and I damn near gave up on that point. And 2) The conflict with Damien just dragged way too long. I think people just got tired of Darhk by episode 23. The show needs to adapt a mini arc structure that builds up to the final conflict and makes it worth it.

Amell has been doing a few conventions lately. Especially, with him repping other celebs to do them. I am sure he has been hearing it from the fans in person.

Nice looking teaser. Really looking forward to the culmination of this universe like when we finally got The Avengers. Sure, we don't have all of the heroes we'd like to see in this world, but given what we've got to work with, I like where this is going.

What I'm curious to see is what eventually brings the Legends back to the present since they've been time jumping so far. EDIT: And my mistake, Vixen is there standing next to Oliver at one point.

Yeah, there were not that much complaints about the relationship or the season in general last year, until the ending of episode 15, which funnily enough, was a good episode, but the ending really annoyed a lot of people. After that, there were much more complaints and ratings started to go down.

If so, what he probably doesn't like is them blowing up the relationship for cheap drama.

And that's totally okay. Olicity is actually not bad when there's no drama. In the first half of S4, before the Baby Ollie incident, their relationship wasn't at the forefront; it was there but not prominent, and it worked. If they could get back to that, then Olicity is okay. And if that's what Amell pushes for, I'm okay with that since Lauriver is unlikely to ever happen now.
